Fantasy Baseball: Bullpen Breakdown – AL Central

It's the love/hate relationship you really love to hate: closers! With a good two and a half months left until Opening Day, now is as good a time as any to start breaking down some bullpen arms ahead of your draft. This series will detail every division across the league, offering you the big names you'll want to own, as well as the sleepers you need to keep an eye on, and of course some key stats to better prepare you for the big day.  Team  Closer  Next in Line  Plan C  Chicago White Sox  Joakim Soria  …

2018 Player Profile: Nicholas Castellanos

The Curious Case of Nicholas Castellanos We're 2,300 plate appearances into the career of Nicholas Castellanos, and it's odd to think that he is just one month older than Aaron Judge. Despite being around for several years, Castellanos may have found his way in 2017, and the fantasy baseball community is taking notice. He spent the majority of his time at the hot corner last year, but he finished the season in right field. Castellanos took to his new position fairly well, committing only one error is his 20 starts in right…

Angels Fill Second Base Void with Ian Kinsler Trade

The Angels have acquired Ian Kinsler from the Tigers for prospects Wilkel Hernandez and Troy Montgomery. Kinsler gives the Angels a significant upgrade at second base while Detroit sheds his contract. For Kinsler's value, it’s tough to really move it up or down, but it’s probably up a touch. He goes from one pitcher’s park to another pitcher’s park. He was going to hit leadoff at either place. The hitting talent around him is probably better with the Angels. The 35-year-old is coming off a 2017 season in which he hit…

Tigers Take a Shot on Mike Fiers

The Detroit Tigers have signed Mike Fiers to a one-year deal. The Tigers hope the 32-year-old righty can regain some of his 2015 luster and trade him later in the season. Fiers' stuff has been lacking with the new juiced balls. Using a sub-90 mph fastball, his home run rate and ERA have increased each year since the new ball was introduced. Year HR/9 ERA 2014 0.9 2.13 2015 1.2 3.69 2016 1.4 4.48 2017 1.9 5.22 When he gets hit, he gets hit hard. One item to watch…
