Rays Continue to Revamp, Trade Corey Dickerson to Pirates

The Rays have traded Corey Dickerson to the Pirates for Daniel Hudson and Tristan Gray. The move comes after Dickerson was designated for assignment last weekend. The Pirates fill Andrew McCutchen’s outfield spot, while the Rays continue to add depth. The Pirates really improved their outfield by adding Dickerson, who hit .282 with 27 home runs in 150 games last season. He’s projected to put up similar numbers in 2018, with a possible hit to his batting average. The Rays' outfield has been in flux for a couple of weeks…

Rays Add a Bat, Lose a Bat

In a move that doesn’t seem complete, the Angels have traded C.J. Cron to the Rays for a player to be named later. To make room for Cron, Corey Dickerson was designated for assignment. Dickerson has some recent real-life value, so I think he may end up getting traded. In Cron, the Rays get a right-handed bat to platoon with Brad Miller at first base or be the DH. Cron was without a job with the additions the Angels made over the offseason. Cron has some home run power (16 in the past two seasons in 450 or fewer PA), but…

Fantasy Baseball: First-Half Bests and Worsts

Draft day is the most anticipated event in all of fantasy sports. Draft prep takes quite a bit of work, and most owners will go into the draft with a plan in place and a few players "up their sleeve." While it all may look good on paper, one can never really predict how the real players will perform. With the excitement of every breakout performance, there are equally frustrating bouts of ineffectiveness or prolonged slumps that will torpedo a fantasy team. Add to that the new 10-day DL and what looked good on paper in late…

7 Underrated MLB Fantasy Targets Based On Current ADP

Underrated Fantasy ADP Targets After sifting out all of the noise regarding sleepers, breakouts or bold predictions, those who draft effectively use average draft position (ADP) as a guide to player’s values. While these should not be indicative of when to take a player, it provides a basis of relative cost. Using the premise of a 12-team draft, seven targets were identified contingent upon meeting the criteria of proving worth the plunge of a pick after the 20th round, so an ADP above 240. These players will appear in…
