Michael Florio’s Week 14 Fantasy Football Rankings!

The fantasy football playoffs are here! It has been a long journey to this point for many but rejoice, if you are reading this, you likely made it. But the real journey is just getting underway, as we play to win chips not simply make the playoffs. Remember how I spent weeks trying to get your lineups playoff ready? Well, you didn’t expect me to stop now did you! My Week 14 Fantasy Football Rankings will help you seal the deal!

Fantasy Football Postseason Outlook

If you have a bye this week, you are not off. Your goal should be to get your lineup as prepared for Week 15 and 16 as possible. Add a defense that you would stream in those weeks now. For instance, the Eagles play Washington in Week 15 so get their defense now. The Dolphins play the Giants and Bengals so you can actually add them and look to stream.

But this is not strictly left for defenses either. You have likely heard by now that tight ends smash basically weekly against the Cardinals right. Well, David Njoku plays them in Week 15 and Jacob Hollister in Week 16, so add and stash if you can. If both are out there you could legitimately grab both and stream each week.

If you are playing this week, just know your bench is not nearly as important as it was when he had the bye weeks. What exactly does that mean? Well first, handcuffing your top running backs is more important than holding onto that flier that you are still convinced could break out.

Learn from the Dalvin Cook scare this week and grab your handcuff. I would drop players like Ronald Jones, Jonathan Williams, LeSean McCoy, Jay Ajayi, Tyrell Williams, Josh Gordon, Mohamed Sanu, etc to handcuff my top back. I would also drop any players like that for a defense or player that I want to stream in future weeks. There are no more byes, so stashing a player you actually want to use is better than holding someone with upside that you hope can hit.

This is a hot button issue, but teams in the playoffs should have waiver wire precedence over those teams in the consolation bracket. I’m all for having a consolation bracket, in fact, my favorite league allows the winner of the consolation bracket to select their draft slot the next season. As a one-time consolation bowl winner I will say, even when playing for the draft pick, I understand that the playoffs matter more. Those teams’ seasons are actually still going. You play to win a chip and if you are eliminated, your season is technically over. Let the playoff teams get priority on the first waiver run and then the consolation teams. It’s just my opinion, but no team should lose a title because the defenses they wanted were added by an 11th place team playing a 9th place team. But again, if you listened to my above advice, you’d be stashing that defense!

Oh and lastly, I want you all to know I follow my own advice! I made four trades in the final week of the season, targeting players I have been advocating you guys to trade for. I landed Kareem Hunt as a possible keeper for next year. I landed DeVante Parker as both a great option this year and keeper option. I am attempting the difficult to pull off, acquire keepers and still win! Five and a row and onto the playoffs we go!

  • I would look to get away from Drew Brees this week against the Niners, who have allowed the second-fewest fantasy PPG to QBs. That includes holding Aaron Rodgers in check two weeks ago and keeping Lamar Jackson in as much check as you can last week.
  • I do not love the Colts RBs this week. First, it’s looking like Marlon Mack could play, which means he is the only option to trust, if so. But even so, he faces the Bucs who have allowed the fewest rushing yards per game (60.3) and third-fewest fantasy PPG to RBs this season.
  • Kenyan Drake is clearly the guy to own in Arizona, but I do not love him this week against the Steelers, who have allowed the fewest fantasy PPG to RBs since Week 4. David Johnson can be dropped.
  • Allen Robinson is a strong play every week, but especially so when Taylor Gabriel sits. The same can be said for Anthony Miller, who has seen at least nine targets in three straight games. Additionally, he gets the Cowboys who have allowed the seventh-most fantasy PGP to slot receivers over the last month. Miller is coming off a game where he scored over 18 fantasy points from the slot. He is a WR3 this week.
