Logan Morrison Finds a Home with Twins

The Twins have signed Logan Morrison to a one-year deal to be their primary designated hitter. Additionally, Morrison could play some first base when if Joe Mauer gets hurt.

The 30-year-old Morrison is coming off career highs in home runs (38), OPS (.868), and plate appearances (601). He probably experienced his career season in 2017. While he’ll likely regress off his career-high home run total, he should still be able to hit around 30 bombs, with the left-handed park factors being similar in both Tampa Bay and Minnesota. He’s nice late-round power source, especially in OBP leagues, where his career 11% BB% can be utilized.

Kennys Vargas is the big loser here, as he was penciled in as the Twins’ designated hitter. The 27-year-old is running out of opportunities to make a major league impact.
