Fantasy Football: Week 8 Quarterback Streamers

The streaming game has been a fun one in 2020. Most of the time when it comes to streaming you look for a solid baseline of 250 yards and a chance at multiple touchdowns. For the most part, we are exceeding that threshold more times than not and have seen some huge performances from the position. With QB as deep as ever, you can look for monster upside as well as the indicators that tell you if a streaming option has a high probability of being a bust on the week. Let’s shoot for ceiling and floor options in the Week 8 Quarterback Streamers.

Say what?! Your fantasy football league isn’t using Fantrax this season? Unthinkable! Check out all the features Fantrax has to offer, and we think you’ll be singing a different tune for the coming season.

Week 8 Quarterback Streamers

Joe Burrow vs TEN (65% rostered in Yahoo and 57% in ESPN)

Joe Burrow is becoming a weekly fixture as a QB streamer, yet his roster percentage is not high enough. I am going to continue to take the free space until we see him rostered across the board. It’s as simple as this, if he has any sort of plus matchup, you start him. This is a season where it will certainly help to roster two quarterbacks, especially if you don’t roster one of the top 6, so I believe he should be rostered in all leagues.

Most of you know the statistics supporting Joe Burrow’s fantasy success. However, this matchup provides a high ceiling opportunity for the Rookie signal-caller. The Titans have faced the third-most pass attempts in the NFL at nearly 40 attempts per game. Meanwhile, The Bengals attempt the second-most pass attempts per game at 42. Cincinnati has some injuries on their offensive line and hasn’t run the ball well all season with or without Joe Mixon. I expect them to continue to lean on Burrow against a defense that has allowed 272 passing yards per game on average, while the rookie has eclipsed the 300-yard mark in 5 of his first 7 NFL games.

I am most definitely higher on Burrow than the consensus, but I am excited about this game and assume it will be high scoring with struggling defenses on both sides. Coming in at his highest ranking of the season of QB6, it is crazy that Burrow still qualifies as one of my top Week 8 Quarterback Streamers. Pick him up and ride with the rookie going forward.

Carson Wentz vs DAL (84% rostered in Yahoo and 77% in ESPN)

Another week and another quarterback against Dallas as a streamer, this week it’s the red-hot Carson Wentz. His roster percentage did go up after his last couple games, but I think he is still available in a good number of leagues. More than likely, after you play the Dallas Cowboys you will be picked up. Find Wentz and take advantage of this matchup and the schedule for the Eagles going forward. He’ll make his last appearance as a streamer this week in my Week 8 Quarterback Streamers.

We saw what Wentz can do in the right matchup last week against the Giants. With seemingly his entire offense injured, Wentz finished with 373 total yards and 3 total touchdowns. He will be getting a couple of huge pieces to his offense back in Week 8 with Jalen Reagor and Jason Peters returning from injury. This team is getting healthy at the right time. It looks as if Miles Sanders is going to be out another week, without him the Eagles will turn to the passing game to lead the way on Sunday Night.

The Eagles lead the league in Pass rate with the lead at 65% of plays. I expect them to have a lead in this one, then again, I expected them to have a lead against the Giants. Either way, this means there really is not a game script where Wentz won’t be throwing the ball. Would you believe me if I told you Carson Wentz was tied for second-most rushing touchdowns in the NFL? Probably not. Well, that is a fact. Wentz is using his legs more this year than years past, especially in the red zone. Usage and a historically good matchup land Wentz as my QB5 on the week. Plug him in with confidence on Sunday Night Football.

Derek Carr @ CLE (39% rostered in Yahoo and 37% in ESPN)

Alright, we can’t ignore Derek Carr any longer in Fantasy. Between his recent play and this golden matchup, I had no choice but for him to debut on the Week 8 Quarterback Streamers. I’ll be critical of myself here, I have Derek Carr ranked too low on the week at my QB15. This is more a product of the depth at the position this week rather than a knock on Carr. As far as roster percentage, this might be the number one streaming option if the other two here are not available and I am just as confident in this one.

As previously mentioned, that 250 yard and 2 touchdown baseline we look for in a streaming quarterback is pretty much Derek Carr’s weekly floor in 2020. He has at least 260 yards and multiple touchdowns in five of six games this season. I’m willing to use the word guarantee when telling you that he will have at least 250-2 in Week 8 against the Browns.

Want to know who’s worse than the Titans against the pass? You guessed it, the Browns. Cleveland is allowing 288.1 passing yards per game. They’ve actually been above average against the run, and while most expected the Raiders to be a more run centric, game management offense, they’ve actually opened up the offense. We know their number one weapon is Darren Waller at tight end, but we are seeing the re-emergence of Nelson Agholor with his new team. The former Philadelphia Eagle has a touchdown in three straight games. Look for Carr to continue to use all his weapons in the pass game as they take advantage of a defense that just gave up over 400 yards and 4 total touchdowns to Joe Burrow.
