Fantasy EPL Gameweek 26: Waiver Wire and Trade Targets

Every Fantrax manager knows that Waiver Wire and Trade acquisitions can make or break your Fantasy EPL season.  This weekly article is here to help managers pick up the best Premier League players possible from the waiver wire, as well as suggest players to potentially target for a trade with a fellow manager!

Here we outline Fantasy EPL Waiver Wire Targets that have 30% ownership or below on Fantrax.  These players will also have a favorable run of fixtures upcoming, so they could perform very well over the upcoming period!  Trade Targets will be players who look set to do well over the upcoming period, but their ownership statistics suggest they are probably taken in most draft leagues!

Essential reading before the Tuesday waiver requests process!

Gameweek 26 Waiver Wire Targets

Max Aarons

Position: Defender

Team: Norwich

Ownership: 18%

Average Points per Match: 2.7

Next 5 Fixstures: LIV (H), wol (A), LEI (H), shu (A), SOU (H)

Prospects: For the first time this season, Aarons has 3 consecutive double-digit outings. Early season a lot of managers were looking to bring Aarons in as an upside DEF3, but his poor form and a ton of negatives caused him to be unusable. In recent weeks he seems to have turned in some quality fantasy performances. Even ahead of a tough Gameweek 26 matchup Aarons is worth bringing in and holding as an upside DEF4. I would use a low-end waiver wire claim on Aarons ahead of Gameweek 26 due to Norwich having a very leaky defense. If Aarons does continue this form he could improve to be a solid DEF3 in favorable matchups.

Christian Benteke

Position: Forward

Team: Crystal Palace

Ownership: 16%

Average Points per Match: 5.1

Next 5 Fixtures: eve (A), NEW (H), bri (A), WAT (H), bou (A)

Prospects: Benteke is back from injury and back in the XI, getting a solid 11 points this weekend with no returns. A favorite of the Genie’s, Benteke has a floor higher than most FWD1’s but still can’t seem to figure out how to score. If Benteke is in the XI he is a set and forget FWD2 for your team with a floor higher than 7 in most games. Crystal Palace has a favorable set of matches coming up where Benteke will be hoping to finally score in one of them. Hodgson seems to trust Benteke in the XI at least for the next few weeks with Tosun hurt. I would use a mid to high waiver wire claim on Benteke for Gameweek 26 especially if you are in need of a more consistent forward.

Lukas Rupp

Position: Midfielder

Team: Norwich

Ownership: 1%

Average Points per Match: 4.0

Next 5 Fixtures: LIV (H), wol (A), LEI (H), shu (A), SOU (H)

Prospects: Rupp scored a solid 9.5 points in his 2nd start for Norwich. With the midfield pool extremely thin, Rupp is worth a punt hoping he will offer a consistent floor of 6+ points. With Rupp playing 80+ min in his two starts shows that Daniel Farke will trust him to play the majority of the game allowing him to rack up more points. For now, it is hard to judge Rupp but he has the potential to be a decent MID5 in deeper leagues. I would use a low-end waiver wire claim on Rupp ahead of Gameweek 26. If you are short in the midfielder you can’t go wrong with this punt who will most likely continue to play in the Norwich XI.

Gameweek 26 Trade In Target

Jamie Vardy

Position: Forward

Team: Leicester City

Average Points per Match: 14.1

Next 5 Fixtures: wol (A), MCI (H), nor (A), AVL (H), wat (A)

Prospects: Vardy hasn’t scored in the EPL since December 21, and now could be the time to try and trade him in. As a buy-low target Vardy will still offer you the potential of a FWD1 with incredible upside. Being somewhat goal dependent may frustrate his current owner allowing you to bring him in at a cheaper price. I would look to offer a FWD2 + DEF2/3 to get in the EPL top scorer. Try to offer a package including the likes of Ings, Deulofeu, Sterling, Haller, Maguire, Basham, Soyuncu to get in Vardy. Vardy should be a top trade target ahead of Gameweek 26 as he makes his push to win the golden boot.
