Fantasy EPL Gameweek 25: Chaps Choices Sleepers XI

Our Gameweek 25 Chaps Choices article provides Fantrax managers with a Fantasy EPL Sleepers XI.  Our starting eleven of Premier League differential picks will help you find a golden ticket to a big score this weekend!  These hints and tips will give you a better chance of picking up an all-important victory, as one of our Fantasy EPL sleeper picks could easily make the difference in a Head-to-Head game!

We’ll be focusing on players that will bring us not only attacking returns or clean sheets, but also those players that score “ghost points” on the sophisticated and statistics based Togga scoring model!

*For this article, we use the ownership statistics from Fantrax.  Our only rule is that each player we highlight is required to have ownership of 60% or below at the time of writing.  This way there’s a good chance these players will be free agents in your Fantrax Draft League!

Fantasy EPL Gameweek 25 Sleepers XI

**60% ownership or below**

GK: Tim Krul

Team:  Norwich

Opponent:  Newcastle (Away)

Ownership:  17%

Form Last 30 Days:  2.19 PPG

Prospects:  We’re backing Norwich City shot-stopper Krul for Gameweek 25, as The Canaries visit Newcastle.  Krul is likely to concede, but hopefully, he’ll get back to his former self when it comes to making saves.  Newcastle is not the most potent of attacks, so the Dutchman should be able to pick up a decent points score via his saves made.  A Norwich clean sheet isn’t likely, but Krul has a good chance of bagging a decent score!

Alternative Choice:  Aaron Ramsdale (25% ownership) is a good alternative, as Bournemouth face Aston Villa.  The young goalkeeper made seven saves in Gameweek 24, en route to a double-digit score.

GW25 Points Scored:  21

DEF: Matt Targett

Team:  Aston Villa

Opponent:  Bournemouth (Away)

Ownership:  59%

Form Last 30 Days:  15.38 PPG

Prospects:  We backed Targett last week and he gained a great score of 20 points!  The Aston Villa defender followed this up with a goal during the League Cup Semi-Final victory over Leicester, so Targett is on great form ahead of a trip to struggling Bournemouth.  If the English left-back is somehow still a free agent in your Draft League, you need to sign him.  Targett scores well most weeks and is certainly not dependent on clean sheets.

Alternative Choice:  Targett’s opposition defender Steve Cook (31% ownership) is worth a look, despite Bournemouth being poor at the back.  Cook usually scores well in Togga Scoring, as he isn’t reliant on clean sheets.

GW25 Points Scored:  3.75

DEF: Charlie Taylor

Team:  Burnley

Opponent:  Arsenal (Home)

Ownership:  21%

Form Last 30 Days:  8.5 PPG

Prospects:  We highlighted Burnley left-back Charlie Taylor a few weeks back as a great asset to have.  He’s a defender who gains good ghost points, and therefore doesn’t need clean sheets to gain double-digit scores!  Taylor has been in good form in recent months, with six double-figure hauls in his last ten games.  The Burnley defense is a bit hit and miss this season, but they did manage a clean sheet away to Manchester United last time around.  Taylor is worth adding to your roster ahead of the Gameweek 25 match against Arsenal.

GW25 Points Scored:  14

DEF: Adam Masina

Team:  Watford

Opponent:  Everton (Home)

Ownership:  11%

Form Last 30 Days:  11.31 PPG

Prospects:  Last week we recommended little known Watford left-back Adam Masina, and he brought home a solid double-digit score, even though he conceded two goals.  Masina also features in our Hot List at the moment, as he’s a defender that scores really well for ghost points.  The Italian epitomizes the meaning of a sleeper pick ahead of Gameweek 25!  Go and pick him up if you still can, he also featured in @draftgenie’s Waiver Wire article this week.  The Hornets face Everton this weekend, and we’re expecting a similar all-round performance from Masina.

Alternative Choice:  Masina’s opposition defender Mason Holgate (26% ownership) is worth a look as he’s firmly established in the Everton defense.  The English youngster has looked good, and scored well, in recent months.

GW25 Points Scored:  12

MID: Gabriel Martinelli

Team:  Arsenal

Opponent:  Burnley (Away)

Ownership:  56%

Form Last 30 Days:  9.67 PPG

Prospects:  Gameweek 25 should be the last time we’re able to feature Martinelli in our Sleepers XI!  The Arsenal sensation has been on incredible form, having scored goals in consecutive Premier League games.  The suspension of Aubameyang may have been a blessing in disguise, as Martinelli has been given another chance to show how well he can perform.  The Brazilian gained some Premier League minutes over the Christmas period, but now it looks like he’s here to stay.  This weekend Arsenal faces Burnley, and we’re backing Martinelli to start, and score, once again.  If this Chap is still a free agent in your Draft League, go ahead and sign him.  He’s also worth trying to trade in for an under-performing midfielder such as Tielemans, Gross or Milivojevic.

GW25 Points Scored:  7

MID: Aaron Mooy

Team:  Brighton

Opponent:  West Ham (Away)

Ownership:  38%

Form Last 30 Days:  12.17 PPG

Prospects:  We’ve owned Mooy through thick and thin in the FPL Draft Community League this season, and he’s certainly showing his worth now.  When Mooy was sent off and suspended for three games, we stuck by him because we know how good he can be in Togga Scoring!  Our patience is paying off now, as he looks to be Brighton’s best player, and is the focus of much of their play.  However, Mooy is still a frustrating player to own.  The Australian scored an incredible 26 points in Gameweek 24 against Bournemouth, but only scored 2.5 points against Aston Villa the game before that!  We would highly recommend signing Mooy if you can though, as he can be an exceptional player, and Fantrax points scorer, on his day.  This weekend Brighton faces a trip to inconsistent West Ham.

Alternative Choice:  If you’re looking for some consistency, then we’re suggesting an old favorite once again in Manchester United midfielder Fred (53% ownership).  The Brazilian scores very well for ghost points, and is a highly recommended acquisition if you can get him.

GW25 Points Scored:  1

MID: Bernard

Team:  Everton

Opponent:  Watford (Away)

Ownership:  49%

Form Last 30 Days:  10.33 PPG

Prospects:  Bernard came back to bite any manager that dropped him after his Gameweek 23 no-show… he gained an assist and 17 points in Gameweek 24!  For anyone that has seen Everton play under Ancelotti, it’s fairly obvious that Bernard has been pinpointed as the player they look to for creativity.  The Brazilian midfielder is at the center of most of Everton’s play, and therefore he looks to be a good asset to own.  Bernard will probably always be inconsistent with his performances, but hopefully, he can perform well more often than not!  This weekend Everton faces Watford, and we’re backing Bernard to gain a double-figure points score.  He’s potentially the marque pick of these Gameweek 25 Sleepers recommendations.

GW25 Points Scored:  0

MID: Ondrej Duda

Team:  Norwich City

Opponent:  Newcastle (Away)

Ownership:  34%

Form Last 30 Days:  13 PPG

Prospects:  Duda has been the signing of the January Transfer Window so far, as he’s started two games for struggling Norwich, and gained two double-digit hauls!!  We were skeptical about his prospects due to the fact that he hadn’t played in the Bundesliga since early December.  However, Duda has gone straight into the Norwich side and looks like a quality player.  More importantly, he looks like a great Togga Scoring Fantrax asset!  If the Slovakian international is still a free agent in your Draft League, go ahead and sign him!  This weekend Norwich faces Newcastle, and we’re fully expecting another big points haul from Duda!

Alternative Choice:  Fellow January Transfer Window signing and opponent of Duda this weekend, Nabil Bentaleb (7% ownership) is worth an add in larger Fantrax leagues.  The Algerian international should go straight into Newcastle’s central midfield and could be a decent asset in Fantasy EPL.

GW25 Points Scored:  13

FWD: Christian Benteke

Team:  Crystal Palace

Opponent:  Sheffield United (Home)

Ownership:  10%

Form Last 30 Days:  N/A PPG

Prospects:  We did have Tosun here, but he’s now been ruled out with a hamstring injury… Therefore we’re backing his replacement, the fit again Benteke!!  The big Belgian forward is always good for ghost points in Togga Scoring.  If Benteke is starting for Crystal Palace, then he’s an amazing asset to own.  If he’s a free agent in your Draft League, go ahead and snap him up ahead of Gameweek 25!

GW25 Points Scored:  10.5

FWD: Allan Saint-Maximin

Team:  Newcastle

Opponent:  Norwich (Home)

Ownership:  56%

Form Last 30 Days:  11.5 PPG

Prospects:  We would imagine Gameweek 25 is the final time we’ll be able to feature Saint-Maximin in our Sleepers XI.  The explosive Newcastle forward has returned to first-team action and should get back to his consistent double-figure points hauls very soon.  We backed the Frenchman in Gameweek 23, and he returned us an assist and double-figure score!  Since then he was rested for Gameweek 24 and performed poorly in the FA Cup.  However, with Norwich City visiting Newcastle this weekend, we simply have to back him.  The likes of Hanley and Zimmermann won’t be able to deal with the trickery of Saint-Maximin, so we highly recommend signing him if you can!

GW25 Points Scored:  13

FWD: Jay Rodriguez

Team:  Burnley

Opponent:  Arsenal (Home)

Ownership:  6%

Form Last 30 Days:  8.33 PPG

Prospects:  Could this be the time for Jay Rodriguez to cement his place in the Burnley side?!  With Ashley Barnes ruled out with an injury, J-Rodz has started the last two games and scored very good Fantrax points.  The Englishman gained 9.5 points in Gameweek 23 and followed this up with 13.5 points in Gameweek 24.  This weekend Burnley faces a shaky Arsenal defense and will have very high confidence after their victory at Old Trafford last time around.  If you need a forward for Gameweek 25, then take a look at our sleeper pick in Rodriguez!!

Alternative Choice:  If you don’t fancy Rodriguez, then perhaps Everton man Moise Kean (43% ownership) could be an option.  The summer signing is finding his feet in the Premier League and scored in Everton’s last game.  The Toffees face Watford this weekend.

GW25 Points Scored:  5
