Fantasy Basketball Weekend Streamers: March 17-19

Log off your bracket, nothing can change the fact Arizona was cut down by Princeton, or that Virginia LITERALLY threw the game ball to Furman. It’s that time of year when college hoops has their moment in the sun, but fantasy managers can’t stray too far from the prize, because the fantasy NBA playoffs are right around the corner.

Fantasy Basketball Weekend Streamers

NBA Fantasy Streamers is a weekly article put out by Fantrax to help Fantasy NBA managers chase down statistics in weekly league formats. All the players listed below play 2 games in three nights between Friday and Sunday, giving you the best opportunity to maximize their statistical output.

Teams With Two Games

ATL, BOS, CHI, DEN, GSW, HOU, LAC, LAL, MEM, MIA, MIN, NOP, ORL, PHI, POR, SAS, TOR, WAS

Trey Murphy III, F – New Orleans Pelicans | 84% rostered

Best Stats: 3PM, PTS, STL

Even with Brandon Ingram back in the lineup for this weekend’s matchups, Trey Murphy is a must if managers are chasing points and threes. Murphy has scored 15 or more in his last six games, including a 41-point, nine-threes output Monday against the Blazers.

It isn’t just that he’s scoring in the absence of other stars, it’s that he’s doing it efficiently, shooting over 50% from the field in the same six-game stretch. More impressive, on the season Murphy is nearly shooting 48% from the floor on 9.6 shots per game, and 5.8 of those are three-pointers. With an eFG% of 60% Murphy hasn’t been just a decent replacement, when called upon, he’s been an elite shooter.

Jeremy Sochan, F – San Antonio Spurs | 71% rostered

Best Stats: PTS, REB

Like many of his teammates, Sochan has spent much of march on the injury report missing games here and there. I’m not here to speculate but it seems like sitting your best players sporadically for minor injuries is just what a team looking to lose might do. That is neither here, nor there but something to consider when picking him up.

As for his play on the floor, Sochan is averaging 19.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game over his last six contests. Unfortunately, the French wing doesn’t consistently provide much more than that though he will often flirt with a steal or two on a given night.

Weekend Streamer Repeats

The players below have made at least one of these weekly lists, and they’re still widely available across standard leagues.

Kentavious Caldwell Pope, G/F – Denver Nuggets | 71% rostered

Best Stats, STL, PTS, 3PM

Caldwell pope is known as a three-point specialist but has struggled a bit of late. The veteran wing didn’t make a single three-pointer in two of his last three games, so he has to be due, right? On the up-side, he’s snagged three or more steals in three of his last six games.

Austin Reaves, G/F – Los Angeles Lakers | 54% rostered

Best Stats: AST, PTS

In the absence of Lebron, and often times Anthony Davis as well, Reaves has flourished. Over his last 10 games, he’s averaging 15.3 points and 5.3 assists.

Matisse Thybulle, G/F – Portland Trailblazers | 51% rostered

Best Stats: STL, 3PM

Matisse has only scored in double figures in four out of his last ten, but in that same time frame, he’s averaged 1.8 threes a game. Players don’t need to be scorers to be a three-point shooting asset. Thybulle also equals that 1.8 average in steals during the same ten-game stretch.
