Fantasy Basketball Weekend Streamers: Jan. 7-9

With so many players still entering health and safety protocols, the waiver wire landscape looks like nothing we’ve ever seen before. Players who previously had less than no value in fantasy hoops are becoming top streamers for short bursts of time as they soak up minutes on depleted rosters, making it that much more important to take advantage of these opportunities while they last. So let’s dive right in and take a look at this weekend’s top streamers, who, as always, must have two games across these next three days.

What?! You’re not hosting your fantasy basketball league on Fantrax? Inconceivable! Check out all the features of Fantrax Fantasy Basketball Commissioner and we’re pretty sure you’ll come around to our way of thinking.

Weekend Streamers

Danilo Gallinari, SF/PF, Atlanta Hawks

Best Categories: 3PM, PTS, REB

Danilo Gallinari is always an interesting option in fantasy hoops when he sees major minutes, but that has not often been the case for most of the past two seasons. With a handful of Hawks regulars currently out, however, including John Collins, Gallinari has seen 31 minutes per game since returning from his own stint of health and safety protocols. In those two games, the veteran forward averaged 11.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.0 threes, making him a solid streaming option with double-double potential along with some triples. With one of his two games against the Lakers, who are bottom five in the league in points allowed, he has a chance to produce a lot of points this weekend.

Jordan Nwora, SF, Milwaukee Bucks

Best Categories: 3PM, PTS, REB, STL

Jordan Nwora has taken advantage of an increase in minutes and offensive opportunities like few others have during this time of health and safety protocol chaos. The 23-year-old has looked tremendous in just about every game in which he’s received significant minutes, and the Bucks roster is still pretty limited due to both injuries and protocols. Nwora has scored 17 or more points in four of his last five games, with eight or more rebounds in three of them, three or more triples in four of them, and nine steals in his last seven games. Slated to see major minutes again in both games this weekend, Nwora will have two chances to put up major stat lines with games against the fast-paced Nets and Hornets. He’s a top-tier streaming option for this weekend and beyond.

Reggie Bullock, SG/SF, Dallas Mavericks

Best Categories: 3PM, STL

Reggie Bullock typically doesn’t carry a ton of fantasy value, but this weekend looks like a nice opportunity for that to temporarily change. The veteran has seen 27 or more minutes in each of his past four games due to Dallas dealing with the aforementioned health and safety protocols, and he has contributed some nice stat lines, particularly in regard to threes and steals. Bullock amassed ten threes and five steals during that span, and he has a good chance at keeping the strong play going with weekend matchups against the Rockets and Bulls. He won’t contribute a ton of stats in other areas, but those are two specialist categories that he can excel in, and he certainly will have the minutes to do so this weekend. He, therefore, makes for a solid streamer.

Malik Monk, PG/SG, Los Angeles Lakers

Best Categories: 3PM, PTS, FG%, FT%

Malik Monk is hotter than the sun right now and he’s probably the top streaming option out there if you’re in need of efficient scoring this weekend. It honestly looks like he’s shooting the ball into the ocean with how easy he’s making it look. In his last six games, seeing 30 or more minutes in each of them, Monk is averaging 20.7 points and 3.3 triples per contest, doing it with ridiculous efficiency from the floor. The 23-year-old shot 50% or higher in each of those games, shooting a blistering 56.6% overall with a 90% mark from the free-throw line. With the Lakers having won three straight and four of their last five, and Monk being one of the main reasons why he should continue to be a focal point of their offense this weekend as they take on the defensively-challenged Hawks and the Grizzlies.

Patrick Beverley, PG/SG, Minnesota Timberwolves

Best Categories: 3PM, PTS, AST, STL

Patrick Beverley has been filling up the box score over the past four games thanks to some extra offensive responsibilities with D’Angelo Russell and others missing some time. The veteran point guard is averaging 13.5 points, 7.5 assists, 1.8 steals, and 2.3 threes in that span, even chipping in an unlikely 4.5 boards and a block per game for good measure. The presumed thought was that his production would take an immediate hit with the return of Russell, but the team’s starting point guard played 30 minutes in his return, and Beverley still saw 26 minutes on his way to 20 points and 5 triples with 4 boards, 6 dimes, a steal, and a block. Beverley is simply going through a hot stretch, and a pair of games against the Thunder and Rockets are a great way to keep that hot streak going. The 33-year-old should be streamed with confidence this weekend.
