Fantasy Basketball: Fringe Report – Mason Plumlee

A small four-game card for Tuesday and so not a lot of talking points to go over. The Denver Nuggets continue to keep winning without a number of their starters, in large part because of the impressive play of Mason Plumlee. Let’s run down the four games and see who might be worth adding in standard formats.

Players to stream

DeMarre Carroll

Ed Davis

Rodions Kurucs

J.J. Barea

Jalen Brunson

Cleveland Cavaliers def. Indiana Pacers 92-91

Cavaliers

Alec Burks (26%) – Drop: Burks shifted back to the bench Tuesday, finishing with 14 points on 5-of-16 shooting. Burks has demonstrated the ability to score the ball in bursts but is too inconsistent to roster right now.

Matthew Dellavedova (15%) – Add: Since being traded, Dellavedova has played as if he never left Cleveland. He has scored in double-digits in every game while chipping in with some three-pointers and assists. There is little upside here but if you need a cheap guard, he could be worth a look.

David Nwaba (13%) – Drop: Nwaba failed to score in 14 minutes despite moving back into the starting lineup. There is nothing to see here.

Ante Zizic (12%) – Drop

Jaron Blossomgame (8%) – Drop

Channing Frye (3%) – Drop

Pacers

Cory Joseph (26%) – Drop: Joseph had nine board in Tuesday’s loss, but scored just two points on 1-of-6 shooting. As the Pacers get all their guards back, Joseph will likely continue to trend down.

Doug McDermott (12%) – Drop: McDermott managed to score 12 points Tuesday, but as he tends to do, basically did nothing else.

Atlanta Hawks def. Washington Wizards 118-110

Hawks

Jeremy Lin (48%) – Watch: Minor injuries have meant Lin has found it hard to get any rhythm going this season. When he is on the floor, he has shown glimpses of what he can do. He finished with 16 points in Tuesday’s victory and he is worth keeping an eye on to see if he can get things going.

Kevin Huerter (39%) – Add: Huerter played 35 minutes, scoring 13 points with a bit of everything. He has now scored in double-digits in three of his past four games and appears entrenched in the starting lineup. He is a top 100 player over the past two weeks and should be rostered in a lot more leagues.

Alex Len (35%) – Drop: Len had a good game Tuesday, putting up 15 points to go with five rebounds and two blocks. It is hard to get a read on Len who has alternated good and bad games over the past week. Dewayne Dedmon is playing well as the starter which makes Len tough to own outside of deeper formats.

DeAndre Bembry (34%) – Drop

Vince Carter (8%) – Drop

Justin Anderson (7%) – Drop

Daniel Hamilton (1%) – Drop

Wizards

Jeff Green (37%) – Add: Green had another strong performance Tuesday and it is probably time to add him, even if it is only until Otto Porter returns. Green has now scored at least 12 points in five of his past six games, hitting 17 triples in that period.

Tomas Satoransky (23%) – Watch: Satoransky’s minutes fell to 21 after playing 46 on Sunday. The Wizards have no guard depth which means Satoransky is going to have some value moving forward. The only problem is knowing exactly when that is going to happen.

Thomas Bryant (15%) – Drop

Sam Dekker (10%) – Drop: After blowing up for 20 points in his previous game, Dekker came back to earth with a four-point effort Tuesday. This is more in line with what should be expected moving forward.

Ian Mahinmi (4%) – Drop

Chasson Randle (0%) – Drop

Brooklyn Nets def. Los Angeles Lakers 115-110

Nets

DeMarre Carroll (39%) – Stream: Carroll had his third straight game with double-digit scoring, as he continues to take advantage of Allen Crabbe being on the sidelines. Crabbe will likely miss Wednesday’s game and if that is the case, Carroll could be worth streaming in if you need some points and threes.

Ed Davis (28%) – Stream: Davis played just 11 minutes Tuesday in what was simply a case of the Lakers going small in the absence of JaVale McGee. Davis continues to be one of the more frequently used streamers and will likely be much better than this against the Bulls on Wednesday.

Rudions Kurucs (15%) – Stream: Kurucs did not play well Tuesday but remained in the starting lineup, replacing the injured Allen Crabbe. Given the Nets play Wednesday, Crabbe could very well miss another game which would presumably give Kurucs further opportunities.

Jared Dudley (6%) – Drop: Dudley scored 13 points in 24 minutes Tuesday but it is hard to believe anything he does given his normal role.

Lakers

Lance Stephenson (21%) – Drop: Stephenson came back to earth Tuesday with an eight-point performance. He is known for putting together a string of solid performances before then delivering the exact opposite. He is too hard to trust in standard formats.

Tyson Chandler (15%) – Drop: This was not a good matchup for Chandler and he finished with just four rebounds despite starting in place of JaVale McGee. McGee could return for Friday’s game which would send Chandler back to the bench.

Moritz Wagner (15%) – Drop

Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk (12%) – Drop

Ivica Zubac (9%) – Drop

Isaac Bonga (7%) – Drop

Denver Nuggets def. Dallas Mavericks 126-118

Nuggets

Mason Plumlee (40%) – Add: Plumlee continues to play well as a member of the starting lineup, coming within one rebound of a double-double. Plumlee has the ability to contribute in a number of different areas with his only real downside being his free-throw shooting. He is well worth an add, at least until Will Barton returns, which could impact Plumlee’s production.

Trey Lyles (39%) – Watch: Lyles finally shot the ball well on Tuesday, putting up 16 points in 21 minutes. He has been disappointing despite the injuries to key players and has been dropped in a number of leagues. Keep an eye on him to see if the shooting can stick, in which case he could be worth an add once again.

Malik Beasley (13%) – Drop

Torrey Craig (8%) – Drop: Despite starting, Craig offers very little outside of scoring and even that is too inconsistent to warrant a steady roster spot.

Nick Young (4%) – Drop

Brandon Goodwin (0%) – Drop

Mavericks

J.J. Barea (43%) – Stream: Making his return after missing two games with an ankle injury, Barea had 10 points in 21 minutes Tuesday. Prior to his injury, Barea had been flirting with standard league value. Dennis Smith missed another game with a wrist injury, something he just can’t seem to shake. If Smith misses additional time, Barea could be worth streaming in for assists and points.

Dirk Nowitzki (37%) – Drop

Dwight Powell (22%) – Drop: Powell simply doesn’t see enough playing time to be able to consistently put up standard league value.

Dorian Finney-Smith (22%) – Drop: Finney-Smith had a period of fringe value but that appears to have come and gone.

Jalen Brunson (15%) – Stream: Brunson is hard to get a read on with the uncertainty around Dennis Smith. Brunson started again Tuesday and scored just eight points. Both he and J.J. Barea could be worth streaming but selecting which one could prove difficult.

Devin Harris (7%) – Drop

Ryan Broekhoff (3%) – Drop
