Fantasy Basketball: Fringe Report – Tyus Jones

A quiet Sunday in the NBA with just six games on the slate. The Minnesota Timberwolves held on to beat the Miami Heat without Jeff Teague or Derrick Rose. Tyus Jones filled in as the starting point-guard and once again flashed his upside and what he can do when given the playing time. There was not a lot to discuss in relation to borderline standard league players but let’s try and squeeze value from those that put up remotely decent lines.

T.J. McConnell

Orlando Magic def. Detroit Pistons 109-107

Magic

Jonathon Simmons (21%) – Drop

Jerian Grant (20%) – Drop

Wes Iwundu (5%) – Drop

Pistons

Reggie Bullock (46%) – Add: Bullock struggled from the field during Sunday’s loss but still finished with 15 points including three triples. He is not a must-roster player but perhaps more of a long-term streaming option.

Stanley Johnson (26%) – Drop

Luke Kennard (24%) – Watch: Kennard had put together back-to-back games scoring at least 14 points. He offers very little outside of scoring and threes and so remains a player to watch rather than add.

Langston Galloway (13%) – Drop

Bruce Brown (9%) – Drop

Zaza Pachulia (8%) – Drop

Jose Calderon (8%) – Drop

Minnesota Timberwolves def. Miami Heat 113-104

Timberwolves

Tyus Jones (22%) – Stream: Jones moved into the starting lineup with both Jeff Teague and Derrick Rose sidelined, finishing with 12 points and five steals. Jones now has nine steals in his last two games and is certainly worth streaming in if either Teague or Rose are out once again.

Josh Okogie (20%) – Drop

Gorgui Dieng (15%) – Drop

Jerryd Bayless (2%) – Drop

Heat

Tyler Johnson (48%) – Add: Johnson was not at his best Sunday but the playing time was there and he remains a low-end addition to a roster in need of guard stats.

Rodney McGruder (46%) – Drop

Derrick Jones Jr. (29%) – Watch: Jones fell just one rebound short of a double-double Sunday, capitalizing on his spot start. James Johnson was out with an illness and so will likely return in the coming days.

Toronto Raptors def. Chicago Bulls 95-89

Raptors

OG Anunoby (33%) – Drop

Delon Wright (17%) – Drop

Greg Monroe (16%) – Drop

Norman Powell (9%) – Drop

Chris Boucher (7%) – Drop

Lorenzo Brown (2%) – Drop

Bulls

Ryan Arcidiacono (20%) – Drop

Chandler Hutchison (15%) – Drop: Hutchison provided handy offense off the bench Sunday but this was just the second time he has scored in double-digits all season.

Shaquille Harrison (13%) – Drop

Robin Lopez (13%) – Drop

Dallas Mavericks def. Oklahoma City Thunder 105-103

Mavericks

Dirk Nowitzki (36%) – Drop

Dwight Powell (22%) – Drop

Dorian Finney-Smith (20%) – Drop: Finney-Smith finished with 10 points but had scored just six points combined over his past three games.

Maxi Kleber (16%) – Drop: Kleber moved into the starting lineup but finished with just three points and seven rebounds. He had blocked eight shots over his past three games and at a stretch, could be streamed in.

Devin Harris (7%) – Drop

Thunder

Nerlens Noel (36%) – Stream: Noel recorded just one block Sunday but continues to bring the defense in his limited playing time.

Hamidou Diallo (13%) – Drop

Patrick Patterson (9%) – Drop

Raymond Felton (4%) – Drop

Abdel Nader (3%) – Drop

Portland Trail Blazers def. Philadelphia 76ers 129-95

Trail Blazers

Evan Turner (43%) – Drop: Turner replaced Moe Harkless in the starting lineup but was unable to have an impact in his 23 minutes.

Zach Collins (32%) – Drop

Seth Curry (14%) – Drop

Nik Stauskas (12%) – Drop

Anfernee Simons (10%) – Drop

Meyers Leonard (9%) – Drop

Caleb Swanigan (8%) – Drop

Wade Baldwin (6%) – Drop

Jake Layman (5%) – Drop

76ers

Wilson Chandler (21%) – Drop

T.J. McConnell (20%) – Stream: McConnell finished with 14 points and two steals in Sunday’s loss, his second straight game with double-figures. His playing time appears locked in at around the mid-twenties and he provides assists and steals which could be beneficial in certain formats.

Mike Muscala (19%) – Drop

Landry Shamet (16%) – Drop

Furkan Korkmaz (12%) – Drop: Korkmaz had 10 points Sunday but it took 12 field-goal attempts to get there and he can be left on the waivers almost everywhere.

Jonah Bolden (8%) – Drop: Bolden played 26 minutes in Sunday’s loss, however, Joel Embiid was out and garbage time was certainly a factor.

Amir Johnson (6%) – Drop

Demetrius Jackson (1%) – Drop

Los Angeles Lakers def. Sacramento Kings 121-114

Lakers

Lance Stephenson (22%) – Drop

Tyson Chandler (15%) – Stream: JaVale McGee returned for Sunday’s game which sent Ivica Zubac back to the bench. Chandler still managed to play 16 minutes, hauling down another eight rebounds.

Svi Mykhailiuk (12%) – Drop

Johnathan Williams (4%) – Drop

Kings

Iman Shumpert (21%) – Add: Shumpert struggled to find any rhythm on the offensive end but still racked up eight points and two steals. He has played at least 27 minutes in three straight games and is worth thinking about if you need steals and threes.

Justin Jackson (16%) – Drop

Yogi Ferrell (12%) – Drop

Kosta Koufos (9%) – Drop
