Fantasy Basketball: Fringe Report – Tomas Satoransky

There were 10 games to analyze Friday, with a number of players missing time due to various injuries. John Wall is set to see a specialist regarding his sore left heel which could open up additional playing time for Tomas Satoransky. I’ll have a look at the Wizards backup as well as other players making noise across the fantasy landscape.

Charlotte Hornets def. Brooklyn Nets 100-87

Hornets

Malik Monk (49%) – Drop: Monk has the tools to be a fantasy asset but simply doesn’t receive consistent playing time, limiting his value to just deeper formats.

Miles Bridges (36%) – Drop

Guillermo Hernangomez (30%) – Drop

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (24%) – Drop

Tony Parker (16%) – Drop: Parker scored 17 of his 19 points in the final quarter Friday, turning back the clock in a vintage performance. Despite the offensive outburst, Parker remains more of a deep league player at this stage.

Devonte Graham (8%) – Drop

Nets

Rodions Kurucs (45%) – Add: Kurucs finally cooled off Friday, finishing with just five points in 20 minutes. He had been playing well prior to this game and as long as Allen Crabbe remains sidelined, should continue to start. If you are holding him, it is worth giving him another go as long as Crabbe is out.

DeMarre Carroll (38%) – Stream: Carroll scored in double-figures for the sixth time in his last eight games, providing some nice offense off the bench Friday. The Nets starters struggled to get anything going which allowed Carroll to see some additional playing time. He doesn’t do much outside of scoring and rebounding but could be worth streaming in if you are in need of those numbers.

Ed Davis (26%) – Stream: Davis pulled down 11 boards in 25 minutes Friday and is worth a look if you need to make up some ground in rebounding.

Shabazz Napier (10%) – Drop

Jared Dudley (7%) – Drop

Indiana Pacers def. Detroit Pistons 125-88

Pacers

Cory Joseph (21%) – Drop

Aaron Holiday (18%) – Drop

Kyle O’Quinn (12%) – Drop

Doug McDermott (12%) – Drop: McDermott scored 12 points Friday, however, garbage time was certainly a factor and he can be left on the waivers.

TJ Leaf (7%) – Drop

Davon Reed (3%) – Drop

Pistons

Reggie Bullock (47%) – Add: Bullock scored 13 points including three triples, bouncing back after a couple of duds in his last two performances. Bullock offers little on the defensive end but the playing time is locked in and he is deserving of a roster spot if you need points and threes.

Stanley Johnson (26%) – Drop

Luke Kennard (24%) – Drop: Kennard scored 14 points off the bench Friday after a total of just eight points in his previous four games. Kennard has some upside when it comes to fantasy but doesn’t see enough minutes on a regular basis to have any real value.

Langston Galloway (13%) – Drop

Bruce Brown (9%) – Drop

Zaza Pachulia (8%) – Drop

Jose Calderon (4%) – Drop

Khyri Thomas (8%) – Drop

Jon Leuer (3%) – Drop

Orlando Magic def. Toronto Raptors 116-87

Magic

Jonathan Simmons (21%) – Watch: Simmons played 20 minutes Friday, ending with six assists. It appears he is going to be the backup point guard for the Magic and while he is not worth adding at this stage, keep an eye on his production over the coming games to see if he can carve out a nice role which may lead to some streaming potential.

Jerian Grant (20%) – Drop

Wes Iwundu (5%) – Drop

Isaiah Briscoe (4%) – Drop

Jarell Martin (4%) – Drop

Khem Birch (3%) – Drop

Raptors

OG Anunoby (32%) – Drop

Delon Wright (17%) – Drop

Greg Monroe (16%) – Drop

C.J. Miles (8%) – Drop

Chris Boucher (7%) – Drop

Malachi Richardson (3%) – Drop

Lorenzo Brown (2%) – Drop

Chicago Bulls def. Washington Wizards 101-92

Bulls

Ryan Arcidiacono (20%) – Drop

Chandler Hutchison (15%) – Drop

Shaquille Harrison (13%) – Drop

Robin Lopez (12%) – Stream: Lopez ended with 10 points and two blocks in 15 minutes Friday, his third double-digit scoring game in his last four. He has now managed at least one block in 10 straight games while scoring at least 10 points in five of those games. He doesn’t have any upside but if you are desperate for blocks, he could be worth streaming in.

Antonio Blakeney (10%) – Drop

Wizards

Jeff Green (38%) – Add: Green continues to play big minutes for the Wizards in the absence of Otto Porter, scoring 11 points to go with seven rebounds. His production is basically limited to those two categories but as long as Porter is out, Green is worth adding.

Thomas Bryant (27%) – Stream: Bryant had another productive night Friday, putting up numbers across the board in 30 minutes of playing time. Markieff Morris was out with a neck injury which allowed Bryant some extra run, so that needs to be considered when looking at his numbers. If Morris is forced to miss any further time, Bryant is worth streaming in.

Tomas Satoransky (18%) – Add: John Wall was out Friday, meaning Satoransky moved into the starting lineup. His production was certainly nothing spectacular but he did play a whopping 39 minutes and if Wall is forced to miss multiple games, Satoransky becomes a must-add player.

Sam Dekker (10%) – Drop

Ian Mahinmi (4%) – Drop

Chasson Randle (3%) – Drop

Ron Baker (2%) – Drop

Miami Heat def. Cleveland Cavaliers 118-94

Heat

James Johnson 49%) – Watch: Johnson left Friday’s game early with an illness but had been trending in the right direction prior to this one.

Rodney McGruder (46%) – Watch: McGruder had a good game Friday but the performance needs to be put into context as it was against the Cavaliers. The rotations in Miami are almost impossible to predict which makes it hard to add any players outside of about three or four.

Tyler Johnson (45%) – Add: Despite coming off the bench, Johnson has been putting up some solid numbers and is worth a look if you need some point guard stats at the back end of your bench.

Derrick Jones Jr. (32%) – Drop

Cavaliers

Alec Burks (25%) – Drop: Burks finished with 17 points Friday, going 6-of-10 from the field in the blowout loss. The Cavaliers were very thin on players for this one and so it is hard to get a good read on Burks moving forward.

Matthew Dellavedova (11%) – Drop

Jaron Blossomgame (8%) – Drop: Blossomgame played 33 minutes in a starting role but was still only able to put up seven points with 10 boards. His upside is very limited and he is not really a standard league player at this stage.

Channing Frye (2%) – Drop

Jalen Jones (1%) – Drop

Atlanta Hawks def. Minnesota Timberwolves 123-120

Hawks

Kevin Huerter (38%) – Add: Huerter continues to put up some solid numbers despite limited usage, dropping another 10 points Friday. He appears to be a big part of the Hawks plans for the rest of the season and although he will go through some struggles, should be added in standard formats.

DeAndre Bembry (30%) – Drop

Vince Carter (8%) – Drop

Justin Anderson (6%) – Drop

Alex Poythress (6%) – Drop: Poythress exploded for 12 points and two blocks in 23 minutes Friday after failing to score in his previous three games. This is a mere anomaly and means very little in the scheme of things.

Timberwolves

Josh Okogie (20%) – Drop

Tyus Jones (19%) – Watch: Jones had six assists and four steals in 25 minutes Friday which are some nice streaming numbers in any format. Jeff Teague continues to miss time with an ankle injury and until he returns, Jones is going have some sporadic value.

Gorgui Dieng (15%) – Drop

New Orleans Pelicans def. Dallas Mavericks 114-112

Pelicans

Tim Frazier (18%) – Drop

Darius Miller (12%) – Drop

Frank Jackson (11%) – Drop

Jahlil Okafor (10%) – Drop

Cheick Diallo (9%) – Drop

Ian Clark (5%) – Drop

Solomon Hill (4%) – Drop

Wesley Johnson (4%) – Drop

Mavericks

J.J. Barea (47%) – Drop: Dennis Smith returned for Friday’s game which means Barea is going to find it much more difficult to put up regular value.

Dirk Nowitzki (35%) – Drop: Nowitzki exploded for a season-high 11 points in 11 minutes Friday, eclipsing the 10 minutes mark for the third consecutive game. The production is still not there for the veteran and his increased playing time hurts others rather than helping himself.

Dwight Powell (21%) – Drop: Powell had a nice outing Friday but as Dirk Nowitzki continues to ramp up his playing time, Powell is going to find it tough to hold value.

Dorian Finney-Smith (20%) – Drop

Devin Harris (7%) – Drop

Denver Nuggets def. San Antonio Spurs 102-99

Nuggets

Mason Plumlee (45%) – Stream: The time for Plumlee to be added appears to be coming to an end with the return of a number of players drawing closer. He pulled down 13 boards Friday and so still could be used as a streamer in some cases. As soon as Will Barton, Paul Millsap, and Gary Harris return, Plumlee is going to lose basically all his value.

Trey Lyles (36%) – Drop

Malik Beasley (14%) – Drop: Beasley scored 21 points Friday, before having to leave the game early with an ankle injury. He has scored at least 11 points in four straight games but the injury does not help his outlook. Gary Harris, Will Barton, and Paul Millsap are getting close to a return which is also going to put a dampener on what Beasley can do on a nightly basis.

Torrey Craig (8%) – Drop

Brandon Goodwin (0%) – Drop

Spurs

Jakob Poeltl (38%) – Drop

Bryn Forbes (34%) – Stream: Forbes had another three triples Friday, finishing with 13 points and a pair of steals. He has been very consistent over the past month and although he has a limited ceiling, he provides points and threes with enough volume to be streamed in across many formats.

Derrick White (27%) – Stream: White has really turned things around over the past week despite struggling on the offensive end. He racked up a career-high six steals Friday to go with six rebounds and three assists. His playing time seems to have leveled out to about 28 minutes per night and he is worth a look if you need assists and steals as well as some out of position rebounds.

Patty Mills (26%) – Drop

Marco Belinelli (21%) – Stream: Belinelli had just one three-pointer Friday but has been a nice source of perimeter scoring over the past two weeks. Bryn Forbes is the guard to stream here but Belinelli is a nice consolation if Forbes is taken.

Davis Bertans (16%) – Stream: Much like Belinelli, Bertans could be streamed in for his three-point shooting but Bryn Forbes would be the preference.

Dante Cunningham (8%) – Drop

Oklahoma City Thunder def. Phoenix Suns 118-102

Thunder

Nerlens Noel (35%) – Stream: Noel racked up another five combined steals and blocks in just 13 minutes of playing time and should be streamed in if you need defensive numbers.

Hamidou Diallo (13%) – Drop

Patrick Patterson (9%) – Drop

Terrance Ferguson (9%) – Drop

Raymond Felton (4%) – Drop

Abdel Nader (1%) – Drop: Nader blew up for a career-high 18 points Friday, going 7-of-13 from the field in 33 minutes. Paul George was out for this one and Terrance Ferguson left early with an illness allowing Nader some extra playing time. While this effort was nice, when the Thunder are healthy, he moves back to the end of the bench.

Suns

Mikal Bridges (46%) – Add: Bridges continues to play well for the Suns, putting up 13 points to go with four combined defensive stats. Over the past two weeks, Bridges is the 52nd ranked player despite scoring just 7.8 points per game. He is not going to fit every team but if you are punting points he is certainly worth a look.

Richaun Holmes (34%) – Drop: DeAndre Ayton has been playing very well of late which has taken away a lot of Holmes fantasy value. He could be streamed in as a last resort if you need blocks but chances are there is someone with a clearer path to playing time available.

De’Anthony Melton (30%) – Drop

Jamal Crawford (10%) – Drop

Los Angeles Clippers def. Los Angeles Lakers 118-107

Clippers

Patrick Beverley (46%) – Drop

Avery Bradley (35%) – Drop: Bradley had eight points in Friday’s victory, going 4-of-12 from the field in another underwhelming performance. He has shown glimpses of being able to contribute in standard formats but typically offers very little outside of scoring.

Marcin Gortat (31%) – Drop

Boban Marjanovic (19%) – Drop

Tyrone Wallace (7%) – Drop

Mike Scott (6%) – Drop

Sindarius Thornwell (4%) – Drop

Lakers

Ivica Zubac (45%) – Drop: Zubac had a nice stretch of value but that appears to be coming to an end, as evidenced by his last two performances. JaVale McGee could return for the next game which would likely send Zubac back to being the second or third string center, thus nullifying the majority of his value.

Lance Stephenson (21%) – Drop

Tyson Chandler (14%) – Stream: Chandler pulled down a season-high 15 rebounds in Friday’s loss, making that a combined 25 boards over his past two games. JaVale McGee could return for the Lakers next game but that shouldn’t really impact Chandler’s playing time. Much like Ed Davis, Chandler provides plenty of rebounds in limited minutes and should be considered if you need to make up some ground in that area.

Alex Caruso (1%) – Drop
