Fantasy Basketball: Fringe Report – Reggie Bullock… again

Across the eight games for Monday, there was not a lot of fringe action to be found. The Milwaukee Bucks narrowly defeated the Detroit Pistons but not before Reggie Bullock went off for another 24 points. He is rolling right now and should be rostered in a lot more than 31 percent of leagues. Let’s take a look at the eight games and squeeze what value we can out of those borderline standard league players.

Games of Monday, Dec. 17

Milwaukee Bucks def. Detroit Pistons 107-104

Bucks

George Hill (36%) – Drop: In four games since joining the Bucks, Hill has scored a total of nine points, leaving what value he had basically now, non-existent.

Done DiVencenzo (18%) – Drop

Thon Maker (15%) – Drop

Sterling Brown (9%) – Watch: Brown scored nine points in 26 minutes Monday and has now played at least 22 minutes in four straight games. His ceiling is capped given the talent ahead of him but of all the backup guards in Milwaukee, he appears most likely to play significant minutes.

Tony Snell (7%) – Drop: Snell had a good game as the fill-in starter, replacing Malcolm Brogdon. He finished with 12 points and six rebounds but typically provides very little during his time on the floor. There is no need to overreact to this performance.

D.J. Wilson (4%) – Drop

Pistons

Reggie Bullock (31%) – Add: Bullock dropped a team-high 24 points Monday, including another five triples. He is entrenched in the starting lineup and is playing big minutes on a nightly basis. He is basically a lock for double-figure scoring each and every night and really needs to be on a roster in most formats.

Stanley Johnson (28%) – Watch: Johnson exploded in the fourth-quarter Monday, scoring 16 of his 20 points as the Pistons made a late charge. Johnson has a history of putting up performances like this and then backing up with a dud. He is worth keeping an eye on to see if he can string a couple of these games together.

Luke Kennard (26%) – Drop: Kennard struggled Monday and finished with just three points. He certainly has some upside but is simply too inconsistent to have on a standard league roster.

Langston Galloway (14%) – Stream: Galloway went just 2-of-7 from the field Monday but is still worth considering as a three-point streamer if you need a short burst of perimeter scoring.

Bruce Brown (10%) – Drop

John Leuer (4%) – Drop

Jose Calderon (4%) – Stream: Calderon provides assists and basically nothing else despite some significant playing time of late. Until Ish Smith returns, Calderon is worth a look if you need some cheap assists.

Phoenix Suns def. New York Knicks 128-110

Suns

De’Anthony Melton (49%) – Add: Melton struggled again Monday but was still in the starting lineup. He appears to have the support of the coaching staff but will need to convert some of those minutes into production. The Suns waived Austin Rivers today which certainly bodes well for Melton’s outlook.

Mikal Bridges (47%) – Watch: Bridges played 33 minutes as the starting small forward Monday but had just seven points. Kelly Oubre is likely to debut for the Suns in their next game and could replace Bridges in the starting lineup. The situation is worth monitoring to see how the playing time is allocated moving forward.

Richaun Holmes (42%) – Add: Holmes had 13 points, four rebounds, and two blocks in just 19 minutes Monday, continuing his solid play. His value is capped by the fact he is behind DeAndre Ayton but his production still warrants a roster spot in many formats.

Jamal Crawford (10%) – Stream: Crawford had a career-high 14 assists in Monday’s victory, the third straight win for the Suns. He has now handed out a combined 26 assists in his past three games which certainly holds up in standard formats. Austin Rivers was waived today and so it appears likely that Crawford is going to remain a piece of the rotation moving forward.

Troy Daniels (10%) – Drop

Dragan Bender (9%) – Drop

Jawun Evans (5%) – Drop

Knicks

Mario Hezonja (47%) – Drop: Hezonja finished with 14 points in Monday’s loss, however, the bulk of those points came in garbage time. His role is far too inconsistent to make him a viable option in most formats.

Trey Burke (44%) – Drop: Burke can probably be dropped in most formats given the play of both Emmanuel Mudiay and Frank Ntilikina. Burke is working his way back from injury but appears buried behind Mudiay and Ntilikina at this stage.

Courtney Lee (15%) – Drop

Luke Kornet (6%) – Drop

Lance Thomas (2%) – Drop

Houston Rockets def. Utah Jazz 102-97

Rockets

P.J. Tucker (48%) – Stream: Tucker had 16 points for the Rockets on Monday, his second straight game with double-digits. James Ennis is still out for at least another week and Tucker has seen more looks on the offensive end. He could be worth streaming in if you need some perimeter scoring but keep in mind, he could very well put up a dud in his next game.

Brandon Knight (18%) – Drop

Gerald Green (12%) – Stream: Green struggles against the Jazz on Monday, failing to score in 16 minutes. Prior to this game he had been shooting the ball quite well and is still worth a look if you need some three-point shooting.

Danuel House Jr (8%) – Drop: House has carved out a nice spot in the rotation, however, his game tends to translate better in reality when compared to fantasy.

Nene Hilario (5%) – Drop

Jazz

Dante Exum (18%) – Drop: Exum’s playing time varies wildly from game to game which makes him near impossible to roster in standard formats.

Kyle Korver (16%) – Drop: Korver has hit multiple three-pointers in just one of his past six games leaving his value very low. He will likely find his rhythm again at some stage but until then, he can be left on the waivers.

Royce O’Neale (9%) – Drop

Thabo Sefolosha (4%) – Drop

Minnesota Timberwolves def. Sacramento Kings 132-105

Timberwolves

Josh Okogie (20%) – Drop: Okogie had some highlight plays Monday, finishing with 10 points in 28 minutes. Despite the strong performance, Okogie can remain on the waivers as this effort was simply a case of the game being well in hand.

Tyus Jones (17%) – Drop: Jones had a double-double Monday, delivering 10 points and 10 assists. The Timberwolves had a 30-point lead during the second quarter which meant the second unit saw plenty of court time in the second half.

Gorgui Dieng (15%) – Drop: Much like the rest of the second unit, Dieng had one of his better games of the season Monday. Also, much like the other bench players, he is not worth owning in standard formats due to the tight rotations tun by coach Tom Thibodeau.

Anthony Tolliver (8%) – Drop

Luol Deng (1%) – Drop: Yes, Luol Deng is still on an NBA roster. No, he isn’t worth owning anywhere.

James Nunnally (1%) – Drop

Kings

Harry Giles (29%) – Drop: Giles was not even in the rotation prior to Monday’s blow out loss and can be left on the waivers.

Justin Jackson (15%) – Drop: Despite scoring 11 points Monday, Jackson typically offers very little production no matter the playing time.

Frank Mason (11%) – Drop: In what was arguably the most one-sided game of the season, the Kings were thumped by the Timberwolves which allowed many of the second unit to see additional playing time. Mason finished with 12 points but hadn’t even been playing prior to Monday.

Yogi Ferrell (11%) – Drop: Ferrell has shown the ability to score the ball from time to time, and this was one of those times. The Kings were down by 30 points midway through the second quarter which meant the bench saw extended run. Nothing to see here from a fantasy perspective.

Skal Labissiere (11%) – Drop

Kosta Koufos (8%) – Drop

Troy Williams (6%) – Drop

Ben McLemore (2%) – Drop

Oklahoma City Thunder def. Chicago Bulls 121-96

Thunder

Nerlens Noel (36%) – Stream: Noel had another three combined defensive stats Monday, but played just 17 minutes despite the game being a blowout. His ceiling is certainly capped by his lack of playing time but he is an option if you need some blocks and steals.

Hamidou Diallo (12%) – Drop: Diallo had 10 points for the second straight game Monday, however, both performances have come on 80 percent shooting from the field.

Patrick Patterson (9%) – Drop

Terrence Ferguson (9%) – Drop

Alex Abrines (6%) – Drop

Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot (5%) – Drop

Abdel Nader (1%) – Drop

Bulls

Ryan Arcidiacono (19%) – Drop: After scoring 12 points in his last start, Arcidiacono had just two points in 23 minutes Monday. Even with Zach LaVine sidelines, Arcidiacono is going to struggle to have any real value.

Chandler Hutchison (15%) – Drop

Cameron Payne (13%) – Drop: Payne had a decent game Monday, ending with 11 points and six assists. The backup point guard spot is a mess which makes Payne’s value basically non-existent.

Shaquille Harrison (13%) – Drop

Robin Lopez (11%) – Drop: Other than getting in an altercation with Jerami Grant, Lopez once again offered nothing in the way of fantasy value. In fact, his biggest contribution was in turnovers where he recorded five.

Antonio Blakeney (11%) – Drop

Christiano Felicio (4%) – Drop

Rawle Atkins (2%) – Drop

San Antonio Spurs def. Philadelphia 76ers 123-96

Spurs

Jakob Poeltl (40%) – Drop: Poeltl has threatened to move into the standard league discussion but has fallen off once again over the past three games.

Bryn Forbes (33%) – Drop: Forbes has struggled from the field over the past three games, hitting just two three-pointers in that time. He could turn things around given he is still in the starting lineup but at this point, he can be left on the waivers.

Derrick White (27%) – Drop: Even in a blowout victory, White still only managed to see 17 minutes of playing time. He did have three blocks Monday but given he hadn’t blocked another shot all season, this can be viewed as an outlier.

Patty Mills (26%) – Drop: Much like many of the Spurs guards, Mills simply doesn’t do enough to deserve a permanent roster spot.

Marco Belinelli (20%) – Stream: Belinelli was quiet Monday but had been shooting the ball prior to that. Of all the Spurs role-playing guards, Belinelli is certainly the one to take a flier on.

Davis Bertans (13%) – Stream: Bertans dropped 16 points including three triples in Monday’s victory. Prior to his recent time away from the team, Bertans had hit a combined 13 three-pointers in five games.

Dante Cunningham (9%) – Drop

Quincy Pondexter (1%) – Drop

Drew Eubanks (1%) – Drop

76ers

Wilson Chandler (19%) – Drop: Chandler scored 10 points Monday, adding five rebounds and four assists. He remains in the starting lineup which certainly prohibits him from opportunities to put up numbers.

Mike Muscala (18%) – Add: Muscala had 11 points including three triples Monday, as the 76ers were beaten by the San Antonio Spurs. Muscala certainly doesn’t have the highest upside but if you are in need of a center who can score from the perimeter as well as block some shots, Muscala could be your man.

T.J. McConnell (18%) – Stream: McConnell has now played at least 24 minutes in five straight games, recording 24 combined assists over that period. His scoring numbers are wildly inconsistent but the dimes are there if you want to take a flier on him.

Landry Shamet (16%) – Stream: Shamet was just 1-of-3 from the perimeter Monday, finishing with three points and one rebound. His playing time has taken a hit across the past two games, however, both of those games have been blowouts. Prior to Monday he had averaged three triples over four games and is still worth considering as a streamer.

Furkan Korkmaz (13%) – Drop

Jonah Bolden (8%) – Drop

Amir Johnson 7%) – Drop

Shake Milton (5%) – Drop

Golden State Warriors def. Memphis Grizzlies 110-93

Warriors

Jordan Bell (41%) – Drop: Despite the obvious upside, Bell is not worth a roster spot in standard formats.

Kevon Looney (28%) – Drop: Much like Jordan Bell, Looney has the upside but rarely sees enough playing time to have any value.

Andre Iguodala (15%) – Drop: Iguodala returned after missing three games, scoring 10 points including three triples. The veteran typically plays minutes in the teens and impacts the game, more in reality than fantasy.

Jonas Jerebko (15%) – Watch: Of all the backup bigs in Golden State, Jerebko certainly has the best opportunity to put up value. He has scored in double-digits in six of his past nine games while also averaging almost five rebounds per game.

Quinn Cook (15%) – Drop

Alfonzo McKinnie (9%) – Drop

Jacob Evans (7%) – Drop

Shaun Livingston (6%) – Drop

Grizzlies

Garrett Temple (29%) – Watch: The Grizzlies are struggling at the moment leaving Temple with an opportunity to put up some value. He can be a nice source of three-pointers and steals but his inconsistency limits him to being a streamer rather than an add.

Shelvin Mack (20%) – Drop: Mack moved into the starting lineup Monday, filling in for the injured Mike Conley. Despite the temporary promotion, Mack still only managed eight points in 26 minutes. After a brief period of standard league value, Mack has regressed over the past month and can be left on most waiver wires.

MarShon Brooks (11%) – Drop

Wayne Selden Jr. (10%) – Drop

Jevon Carter (9%) – Drop

Joakim Noah (7%) – Drop

Omri Casspi (6%) – Drop: Casspi busted out for 20 points against one of his former teams Monday, hitting 8-of-10 from the field. Prior to this game, he had scored four points in his past three games so owners should take this line with a grain of salt.

Ivan Rabb (5%) – Drop

Yuta Watanabe (1%) – Drop

Portland Trail Blazers def. Los Angeles Clippers 131-127

Trail Blazers

Evan Turner (33%) – Drop: Turner had 10 points Monday as the Trail Blazers beat the Los Angeles Clippers. Turner simply doesn’t have the ball in his hands enough to be able to produce consistent value.

Zach Collins (31%) – Drop: After his surprising start to the season, Collins has regressed to what had been expected which puts him out of the standard league discussion.

Moe Harkless (24%) – Watch: Harkless scored 13 points Monday while chipping in across the board. He continues to start for the Trail Blazers and while the scoring is often in single-digits, he can contribute in other areas on a nightly basis. He is typically efficient from the floor and he is certainly worth keeping an eye on, especially if you are punting points.

Seth Curry (13%) – Drop

Nik Stauskas (12%) – Drop: As long as both Stauskas and Set Curry are healthy, they are basically going to cancel each other out when it comes to fantasy value.

Meyers Leonard (8%) – Drop

Clippers

Patrick Beverley (45%) – Drop: Beverley handed out a season-high 11 assists Monday before fouling out of the game. Beverley had a combined 12 assists over his previous five games and so owners should likely view this as a one-off. Much like a number of other fringe players, Beverley’s impact on the game translates better in reality than fantasy.

Avery Bradley (35%) – Drop: Bradley failed to score in 30 minutes Monday, hurting anyone that may have tried to stream him in. In typical Bradley style, he came up with a dud after back-to-back double-digit games. This is why it is hard to trust him and truth be told, he is easier to just ignore.

Marcin Gortat (31%) – Drop: Gortat started Monday but played just 10 minutes. He is just not a great player anymore from both a reality and fantasy perspective. Despite some occasional strong rebounding numbers, chances are there are better options out there if you look hard enough.

Boban Marjanovic (21%) – Drop

Mike Scott (7%) – Drop

Tyrone Wallace (6%) – Drop: After a 15-point game just two nights prior, Wallace finished with just three points in Monday’s loss.

Sindarius Thornwell (4%) – Drop
