Gameweek 24 Start and Sit

Whether you’re an obsessed EPL fan like our Fantrax HQ team, or a casual player new to the world of Fantasy EPL, you know to start your attacking players against relegation-threatened sides. We’re not going to waste your time dealing with the obvious! The goal of this article is to delve into notable players across each Fantrax position and let you know if you should be starting or sitting those players.

Our format is as follows: We will be choosing 2 different teams. One will be our starts of the week, made up of non-obvious, low-rostered players. The other will be our sits of the week, made up of highly rostered, normally started players. We will keep track of how each team performs in next week’s article for full transparency.

Now let’s see the teams!

A rare gameweek without any teams with two matches! That means we need to take advantage of good matchups, new managers, and new transfers! In goal, we’re taking Foster, who despite having a hard matchup vs. West Ham, has scored more than 10 points three times in his last four starts and is now managed by the more defensively-minded Roy Hodgson. Watford even got their first clean sheet in 31 gameweeks in GW23. In defense, we start with the recently transferred Dan Burn, who’s part of the new-look Newcastle defense at home to the shaky Everton. Alongside him, we take advantage of some good matchups: United vs Burnley (Dalot), Tottenham vs Southampton (Davies), and Norwich at home vs Palace (Hanley). In midfield, we suggest starting the under-rostered Crystal Palace duo: Schlupp and Olise (who’s in particularly good form). Alongside them, we’re backing Donny Van de Beek in new, greener pastures in Everton. It may be to early for him to start, but if he does, he should have a solid floor in Lampard’s attack first approach. Up top, we have two underrated players in Joelinton and Joao Pedro who have both been in great fantasy form (averaging 10+ fantasy points per 90 in their last 3 starts). Joelinton is part of our favorite game to target this week (Newcastle vs Everton) and Pedro has been too hot to bench. Next to them, we have the youngster Anthony Elanga who has stepped up for United recently and has a good chance to start vs Burnley amidst Rashford’s down run in form.

As usual, you should be sitting most of your players vs Manchester City, which includes Brentford’s Ethan Pinnock and Ivan Toney. Even if Eriksen manages a surprise start (highly doubtful), I’d highly suggest delaying your excitement and expectations for another week, not against the likely Premier League winners. The same goes for your low-floor Leicester and Wolves options who face Liverpool and Arsenal, like Semedo, Harvey Barnes, Raul Jimenez, and the like. There may be a lot of hype about prior wonder-boy Dele Alli’s move to Everton, but we’d highly suggest you bench him this week (even if he starts) as he has a notoriously non-existent floor, and adapting to a new system might take some time. Without a clean sheet, Ben White is a walking 4 points, and without unlikely attacking returns Hojbjerg and Henderson are not much better. They’re not awful floor options, but as we’ve repeatedly said, they’re way over rostered, and you can find much better options to stream (see the above starting XI).
