Gameweek 19 Start and Sit

Whether you’re an obsessed EPL fan like our Fantrax HQ team, or a casual player new to the world of Fantasy EPL, you know to start your attacking players against relegation-threatened sides. We’re not going to waste your time dealing with the obvious! The goal of this article is to delve into notable players across each Fantrax position and let you know if you should be starting or sitting those players.

Our format is as follows: We will be choosing 2 different teams. One will be our starts of the week, made up of non-obvious, low-rostered players. The other will be our sits of the week, made up of highly rostered, normally started players. We will keep track of how each team performs in next week’s article for full transparency.

Now let’s see the teams!

We have a nice variety of teams’ players this week in our starting squad, with 7 teams represented (out of 16 playing as of now). Dawson and Lanzini (as well as most would-be West Ham starters) look like good bets to score big in a favorable matchup vs Southampton. Speaking of Hasenhüttl’s side, we also recommend starting the in-form Chelsea loanee, Armando Broja. Two other teams we like are Burnley against a very depleted Everton side and Brighton vs. a Brentford team that concedes offensive stats for fun. In particular, whoever starts between Vydra or Jay Rodriguez (2 and 3% owned) we love vs the Toffees.

Villa and Leicester City are the 2 teams playing the top sides (Chelsea and Manchester City) this week, so we suggest benching any of your goal/assist/clean sheet-dependent players from those teams. That includes some of our selections like Targett, Buendia, Maddison, Ings, and Vardy. Maddison may be red hot, scoring a goal or assist in 3 games recently, but bench him if you can, as he won’t be able to create much against Pep’s side. Speaking of, we like sitting Kyle Walker (if he starts) and Aymeric Laporte against Leicester, because even if Brendan Rodgers’s troops concede goals for fun, they’re also scoring in bunches (3 against Pool in the midweek, albeit the B team), so without a clean sheet those 2 City defenders might not score many fantasy points. Two more goal-dependent players we like benching this week are Jorginho and Callum Wilson. Jorginho’s floor is nonexistent if he doesn’t get a penalty kick (he’s got quite a few lately) and Wilson’s got a Monday date with Rangnick’s reinvigorated United side.

Last Week’s Performance

Two weeks ago, in GW17 we targeted the Watford – Burnley game, which ultimately got canceled due to a COVID-19 outbreak among the Watford squad. Those 6 players plus McTominay in yet another canceled game, made that gameweek, at least for Start/Sit, basically a wash. Both that week and GW18 ended up being weeks where you played whoever you had that actually played, and were happy if you could get a full starting XI.
