DFS College Football is back in swing and now I’ve surveyed the prices and found those values to help you take home the big bucks this weekend. We are all looking for those value plays so we can overspend on the top of the line talent and I found a few plays on both formats that can open up some cash for you to add your favorite high expense players.

DFS College Football Value Plays for FanDuel

Thursday, August 29, 2019

QB, Justin McMillan, Tulane

Price: $9,000

I know that McMillan doesn’t have the flash of Trevor Lawrence or Kellen Mond in the Thursday night slate but he’s $1,000 cheaper and has a favorable matchup. McMillan finished last season with two or more scores in three of his final four contests. Tulane is loaded on offense and faces off against an FIU team that could turn this contest into a shootout with their loaded backfield and talented quarterback James Morgan. If you want to pass on an expensive QB to get more expensive skill players, go for McMillan.

WR, Jalen McCleskey, Tulane

Price: $7,800

Another Tulane player cracks the list for Thursday as Oklahoma State-transfer Jalen McClesky enters the week costing just below the average cost per player. I have McCleskey in Multiple redraft leagues and expect him to overtake Darnell Mooney for the top receiving option this season. In this matchup, he should have ample opportunity to show out and he’s almost $2,000 cheaper than Tee Higgins who will likely leave Clemson’s matchup Georgia Tech early due to blowout.

WR, Gunner Romney, BYU

Price: $6,300

Gunner Romney isn’t even the highest BYU receiver on the board and that’s what makes him such a huge buy. The Cougar beat writers have been eating up Romney all offseason and he’s expected to take a big step forward. The Holy War is a bitter rivalry game and BYU quarterback will rely heavily on his right-hand man Romney. Plus the $6,300 looks like a steal compared to the three BYU receivers listed ahead of him.

TE, Glenn Beal, Texas A&M

Price: $4,800

So this one is a bit of a reach but we all have those lineups where we have to pick up a player in the $5,000 or less range to fill up the lineup. Glenn Beal is the best you’re going to get in this range. Fisher loves to use tight ends and the Baylor Cupp injury opens the door up for the 6-foot-5 behemoth to get those targets left behind by Jace Sternberger. A&M kicks off the season against Texas State who should have nobody talented enough to stop Beal from getting touches.

Friday, August 30, 2019

Jamie Newman, Wake Forest

Price: $7,800

An unusual matchup between the Utah State Aggies and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons opens up the door for several favorable DFS matchups. Jamie Newman is a player I’ve had my eyes on all offseason and He’s going to need to play at a high level in order to defeat Jordon Love and the Aggies. Newman comes in cheap and does damage with both his hands and feet. I can almost guarantee he outscores Mond this week and he’s $2,000 cheaper.

RB, Marcus McElroy, Colorado State

Price: $6,500

Marcus McElroy is a rather unknown commodity but he is the lead back for the Colorado State Rams this season. Coach Bobo is rehauling this team and he announced in the Spring that he plans to run the ball more this season. McElroy is a PPR threat and benefits from being a part of an explosive offense. They take on Colorado who will likely be improved defensively but not by much from a season ago.

WR, Warren Jackson, Colorado State

Price: $7,600

I don’t understand why Jackson’s so cheap but if you don’t pick him up at this price this week you won’t be able to do it again this season. Jackson is the next man in line to take charge for Colorado State and he’s got a high floor with Collin Hill tossing him the ball. Expect a huge outing against Colorado as Jackson sets the stage for a breakout year.

WR, Tyjon Lindsey, Oregon State

Price: $6,400

Oregon State’s offense might be the most underrated offensive unit in college football this season. Nebraska-transfer Tyjon Lindsey will get a chance to contribute early with an injury to Trevon Bradford and a high powered matchup against Oklahoma State. Lindsey won’t be the number one target for the Beavers but at $6,400 he can give you solid production and an upgrade to a big-money player in one of your other spots.

WR, Scotty Washington, Wake Forest

Price: $6,200

I’ve already mentioned Jamie Newman on this list and most FanDuelers are going to flock to Sage Surratt for the smart addition to their lineups. Little do they know, Washington averaged 15+ yards per reception two seasons ago and was in for a prominent role in 2018 until he was sidelined for injury. Wake is looking for that receiver to take on that Dortch role from last season and Washington could have a coming-out party against Utah State and you can have him for $2,500 cheaper and open up your options at other positions.

Saturday, August 31, 2019 – Noon

Matt Corral, Ole Miss

Price: $8,900

Matt Corral isn’t going to be a consistent contributor all season long but this week is a gimme. Ole Miss vs Memphis has been an offensive showcase for several seasons now and this season against an improved Memphis passing attack just spells money for anyone who picks up Corral or…

Brady White, Memphis

Price: $8,400

Ole Miss and Memphis are going to light the field on fire with their respective passing attacks and White and Corral are going to go tit for tat in this one. He’s also really cheap compared to the other Noon time slot quarterbacks.

Salvon Ahmed, Washington

Price: $8,100

I don’t know why Ahmed is valued this low for Week 1 but he’s a PPR threat who will score multiple times Saturday no matter how admirably Jacob Eason plays. Don’t overthink it, go with Ahmed.

Tra Minter, South Alabama

Price: $7,000

Tra Minter is nowhere near the sexiest running back option on FanDuel this weekend but he’s certainly caught my eye. Minter ran for 60+ yards in the final five weeks of last season with 11 receptions in that time period. He’s not going to put up Etienne numbers but 60 yards and a score can do wonders when matched with a top-flight option.

Kawaan Baker, South Alabama

Price: $6,700

I’m dumbfounded by this. Baker came on strong last season and is essentially a running back who is considered a receiver. Baker is far too cheap to pass on and will pay dividends against a Nebraska defense that was dreadful last season.

Chico McClatcher, Washington

Price: $5,500

I’m not sure what offense is going to look like this season with Jacob Eason at the helm but I do know that they don’t have a sure-fire weapon at receiver. Chico McClatcher is coming out of retirement and that excites me. He’s the last player from a receiving corps that included John Ross and Dante Pettis. I expect a surprising season from McClatcher and that starts week one against Eastern Washington.

Saturday, August 31, 2019 – 3:30 P.M.

Hank Bachmeier, Boise State

Price: $7,700

Freshman quarterbacks in a debut against a Power Five team aren’t ideal but when the freshman was one of the best to sign with the school and he’s throwing to a stout receiving corps then I’m more inclined to take the chance. Hank Bachmeier has incredible targets to throw to and it helps that Boise doesn’t have a sure-fire running back as they have in the past.

Cameron Scarlett, Stanford

Price: $7,300

I’m not the biggest fan of Cameron Scarlett but he is a Stanford back in a prominent game. He’s super cheap and costs lower than the opening average cost per player. Maybe Scarlett can break out against Northwestern to begin his senior season.

Jovonte Williams, North Carolina

Price: $5,700

So North Carolina doesn’t have the greatest of upside this season but they do have a promising young back in Jovonte Williams. Williams outlasted Antonio Williams and seems to have improved his odds in the offseason and he’s incredibly cheap going into a competitive matchup against South Carolina.

Maurice Ffrench, Pittsburgh

Price: $7,700

I’m not the biggest fan of Ffrench going into this season but FanDuel might be the only place that he isn’t overvalued. Mark Whipple loves going to one guy and Ffrench is athletic enough to be the featured target for the Panthers against Boston College who has been known to disappoint. If Kenny Pickett can be half-good, Ffrench will be an excellent play this week.

John Burt, Texas

Price: $5,200

I know nothing about John Burt other than that he’s the starting slot receiver for the Texas Longhorns and he’s the seventh cheapest Longhorn receiver on the board this week. I don’t know what volume he will get but he’s certainly worth knowing given he’s starting in such a notable position for the Longhorns against Louisiana Tech.

DFS College Football Value Plays for Draft Kings

Thursday, August 29, 2019

Jayden Daniels, Arizona State

Price: $5,600

Arizona State’s offense is focused around Eno Benjamin, no doubt, but Jayden Daniels is a dual-threat talent that comes in really cheap against Kent State. Daniels will likely see more time to get a feel for live-action than Eno Benjamin who is a known quantity.

Jo-El Shaw, Kent State

Price: $4,800

Kent State players aren’t likely to go flying off boards this week considering they face off against Arizona State but Shaw is different. Shaw is the featured player in this offense this season and he’s beefed up in the gym over the offseason making him a decent size to face off against a hit or miss defense.

Gunner Romney, BYU

Price: $3,700

The Holy War is an excellent rivalry game and it opens the door for many players to show off their hatred and talent against their rival school. Gunner Romney is a name I’ve seen pop up left and right in BYU circles this offseason and he’s expected to be the top target for the young, up and coming quarterback Zach Wilson.

Diondre Overton, Clemson

Price: $3,400

I’m not entirely sure why Overton is so low but he’s the man who is expected to take over Amari Rogers’ spot until he returns in late September from his ACL tear. Sure he has to compete with Ross and Higgins but that didn’t stop Rogers from catching 55 balls and four touchdowns a season ago. Overton is due for some decent targets and comes in a lot cheaper than the other two Clemson receivers.

Friday, August 30, 2019

Jake Luton, Oregon State

Price: $5,600

Oregon State and Oklahoma State are staged up to be a shootout of epic proportions with the Cowboys likely winning by plenty. But don’t waste your money on Spencer Sanders or Dru Brown when you can get Luton and this deadly corps of receivers and running backs on your side.

Carson Strong, Nevada

Price: $5,400

Another quarterback who is poised for a shootout is Carson Strong. Purdue’s defense was dreadful last season and should allow some points from Carson Strong and the second-best receiving corps in the mountain west. Malik Henry is you’re reading this I’m sorry things haven’t worked out for you.

Zander Horvath, Purdue

Price: $4,200

I don’t know if Draft Kings knows this but Zander Horvath is the leading man for Purdue with Tario Fuller sidelined. I know that Purdue’s rushing attack wasn’t tops last season but an RB1 for a team against a weaker matchup is someone worth picking up.

Warren Jackson, Colorado State

Price: $4,900

I hit on him earlier in Fan Duel. I still don’t understand why he’s ranked so low when he could easily be an $8,000 player next week.

Keylon Stokes, Tulsa

Price: $4,400

Tulsa got a lot better over the offseason with the addition of Zach Smith from Baylor and is showed this Spring. I doubt that Keylon Stokes goes for 200+ yards against Michigan State but he could end up with double-digit receptions.

Saturday, August 31, 2019 – Noon

Holton Ahlers, ECU

Price: $7,300

Holton Ahlers shot up draft boards after his final few games last season. Ahlers is expected to have a huge year and East Carolina actually has fewer questions about themselves than NC State does and should keep things interesting this season. He’s really cheap going into this week and gives owners a dual-threat with a powerful arm.

Hunter Johnson, Northwestern

Price: $6,500

Although he isn’t the official starting quarterback for the Wildcats, I don’t expect him to not win out and hiss opening game is against Stanford’s strong passing attack. I expect big numbers from Johnson in his debut.

Scottie Phillips, Ole Miss

Price: $6,700

Phillips grew on me a lot in the last month after a quote from Rich Rod said he’d get 25-30 carries per game. If that’s the case against Memphis then he should easily rack up yards against a so-so defensive unit from the AAC.

Dyami Brown, North Carolina

Price: $4,900

Phil Longo’s offense produced stud receivers left and right at Ole Miss and Dyami Brown has been the guy drawing praise in Fall camp. South Carolina will likely take home the win but North Carolina might make it interesting with a young, talented quarterback and a stable of talented running backs.

Traveon Samuel, Memphis

Price: $3,600

Traveon Samuel transferred into Memphis and appears to be taking on the Tony Pollard role in the backfield with his level of explosiveness and is a must-add given he’s a running back with receiver eligibility.

Saturday, August 31, 2019 – 7:00 P.M.

Bo Nix, Auburn

Price: $5,200

Draft Kings still believes that Gatewood has won the job out at Auburn and that opens the door for a cheap Bo Nix. Oregon will likely aim to stuff the run and force Nix to defeat them. Not the greatest of matchups but hey, he’s cheap.

Hank Bachmeier, Boise State

Price: $4,500

Bachmeier is the starter against FSU and Draft Kings has him down at their third most expensive Boise quarterback. Take advantage of their disrespect and throw Bachmeier in your lineup.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire, LSU

Price: $5,200

Clyde Edwards-Helaire is listed as the second most expensive running back for the LSU Tigers behind a talented yet injured John Emery Jr. CEH is listed as the undisputed top back for the Tigers and should have a few chances for a score in the opening drives against Georgia Southern.

Juwan Johnson, Oregon

Price: $4,900

Draft Kings loves Justin Jefferson this week but I’m loving Juwan Johnson. Oregon needs someone to step up and replace Dillon Mitchell and Johnson’s size puts him at an advantage in a week where Oregon needs a redzone threat. He’s already gotten a good rapport with Justin Herbert and comes in under average cost per player.
