College Football DFS Bargains for CFF Week 9

Week Nine DFS will be missing its poster child in Tua Tagovailoa and without him, many DFS players are looking around trying to find another stud to throw in his place. Mac Jones isn’t your answer, but maybe another player I highlight in this week’s edition of DFS bargains can help you take home the cash this weekend.

College Football DFS Bargains

Saturday Noon

QB, Tanner Morgan, Minnesota

Draft Kings Price: $6,300

Maryland looked amazing Week One and haven’t looked anywhere close to the same since then. This bodes well for Tanner Morgan who’s offensive talent around him is far and away better than most teams in the Big Ten. Morgan isn’t the greatest of options in the noon timeslot but he has a favorable matchup, top of the line receivers, and a ceiling of around 30 points.

RB, Darius Anderson, TCU

Draft Kings Price: $6,600

FanDuel Price: $8,900

Texas’ defense was supposed to be one of the top of line defenses in the Big 12 but a multitude of injuries have them among the nations worst going into Week Nine. This bodes very well for the TCU Horned Frogs stable of running backs Darius Anderson and Sewo Olonilua. Darius Anderson has been the back that emerged against weaker defenses all season and Texas’ offense will do enough to keep the Frogs chasing for all 60 minutes.

Also, Sewo Olonilua is worth considering at $5,200 on Draft Kings and $7,300 of FanDuel.

RB, JJ Taylor, Arizona

Draft Kings Price: $5,400

Arizona hasn’t been the greatest this season and I will continue to blame Kevin Sumlin for the continued downfall of the Wildcats program. Although Khalil Tate isn’t helping much this season, JJ Taylor is coming off of back to back 80 yards games and caught seven passes over the past two games. Stanford’s rush defense isn’t much better than USC’s which didn’t seem like an issue last weekend and with Tate’s inconsistencies, it’s nice to have something worth investing in this offense.

RB, Brian Robinson Jr., Alabama

FanDuel Price: $7,100

Alabama’s offense is drastically different without Tua Tagovailoa on the field. Even though the Alabama receiving corps is nasty, I forsee a QB rotation with Mac Jones and Taulia Tagovailoa while the Tide use the run to win the game. Arkansas is awful at everything so Najee Harris and Brian Robinson should run the offense this week while Saban gets Tua healthy for the LSU game in two weeks.

WR, Deshaunte Jones, Iowa State

Draft Kings Price: $5,800

FanDuel Price: $7,700

Deshaunte Jones remains an under the radar DFS play despite leading the Cyclones in receptions this season. Brock Purdy likes throwing in the direction of Deshaunte Jones and will do so multiple times this weekend against Oklahoma State. The Cowboys are decent defensively but Purdy has been electric for weeks now and Breece Hall finally emerged as the top dog in the backfield giving the Clones something to go with in the backfield other than Brock Purdy. With more weapons, the defense must focus on something on other weapons that aren’t Jones.

WR, Tamorrion Terry, Florida State

Draft Kings Price: $5,600

FanDuel Price: $8,400

Florida State’s offense isn’t the greatest this season but they are much improved from a season ago and that is largely due to a better line and Cam Akers. The passing game is also much improved with James Blackman providing a better scheme fit than Deondre Francois. Tamorrion Terry is the second-best offensive player on the Noles roster and rumblings this week have said that Terry is going to get more targets going forward this season. Syracuse’s defense hasn’t been the greatest and should provide a great matchup for Terry.

Saturday 3:30

QB, Bryce Perkins, Virginia

FanDuel Price: $9,200

The 3:30 timeslot is laking in bargain material this week, especially on Draft Kings. Luckily FanDuel came in clutch with a cheap bounty on Bryce Perkins who is averaging just under 20 points per game. Perkins and the Wahoos take on the Louisville Cardinals who allowed Travis Etienne 13.7 yards per carry last weekend. Perkins thrives on the ground and enters this week at $700 over average player price.

RB, Cameron Scarlett, Stanford

Draft Kings Price: $5,700

FanDuel Price: $8,500

The bargain for Cameron Scarlett swings very much more in your favor on Draft Kings rather than FanDuel but he’s a smart play in either. Arizona may not have the worst run defense in college football but they are the fourth worst in scoring defense in the Power Five. Cameron Scarlett has had the tendency to go off against weaker defenses in the past and Arizona will give him ample opportunity to do so while the Stanford quarterbacks try to heal up.

RB, Mohamed Ibrahim, Minnesota

FanDuel Price: $8,200

Rodney Smith is the top back in the Minnesota backfield, that’s a no-brainer. But, since returning from injury Mo Ibrahim has cranked off 38 fantasy points across two games with a touchdown in both contests. Ibrahim registers under the average player price and provides a nice floor to assure your money’s safety against Maryland.

RB, Tavien Feaster, South Carolina

FanDuel Price: $7,900

It still pains me to have to type South Carolina beside his name but it’s a lot easier to do so when I know he’s about to make me money. Tavien Feaster has played second fiddle to Rico Dowdle for most of the season but since Dowdle went down with Injury, Feaster has scored 20+ points in two of three contests. This week South Carolina takes on Tennessee who allowed Najee Harris and Brian Robinson Jr. a combined 145 yards and three scores last week.

WR, Darrell Stewart Jr., Michigan State

Draft Kings Price: $5,600

Draft Kings can miss the mark on a lot of players but they stay sleeping on Darrell Stewart Jr. Stewart has caught 46 balls this season and leads the Spartans in receptions. Despite having to go up against Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Arizona State, he’s managed to average 21 points per game and never dip under double-digit fantasy points. Penn State proved how vulnerable they are last week against Michigan and Michigan State will provide a tough road test for the Nittany Lions.

WR, Collin Johnson, Texas

Draft Kings Price: $5,600

FanDuel Price: $7,900

I’ve yet to understand why the DFS sites aren’t jacking up the prices on Collin Johnson because he continues to burn them for it. Johnson, since returning from injury, has caught 14 balls for 178 yards and takes on TCU this weekend. TCU hasn’t been able to stop much this season and Collin Johnson is looking to continue padding his stats on his return tour.

WR, Jalen Reagor, TCU

Draft Kings Price: $5,500

FanDuel Price: $7,200

Jalen Reagor appeared absent for most of the season but has come on very strong in the previous two weeks against Iowa State and Kansas State (two respectable defenses I might add). This week, TCU takes on Texas who boasts the fifth-worst defense in college football. If TCU targets Reagor as they have been in weeks past then he could be in for a career day.

Saturday 7:00

QB, Jett Duffey, Texas Tech

Draft Kings Price: $6,600

FanDuel Price: $8,800

Although he hasn’t gone for 40 points in every game he’s played in, Jett Duffey has served as one of the more serviceable options at the quarterback position given a weaker Big 12 schedule and his dual-threat abilities. Although Kansas almost took out Texas last week, they still allowed 50 points to the Longhorns and I have a lot of faith in Jett Duffey who comes in at just above the average player price.

QB/WR, Lynn Bowden Jr., Kentucky

Draft Kings Price: (WR) $7,000

FanDuel Price: (QB) $8,500

Lynn Bowden Jr. made the switch to quarterback and gave the college football world their “Julian Edelman at Quarterback” moment that we all have wanted at some point in our lives. Bowden may not have the greatest of arms but he’s a moneymaker on the ground. He’s registered as a Wideout on Draft Kings and a Quarterback on FanDuel and either way I’m interested given that Missouri has struggled so greatly against mobile quarterbacks all season.

RB, SaRodorick Thompson, Texas Tech

Draft Kings Price: $5,400

FanDuel Price: $8,600

The value swings more in the direction of Draft Kings than FaDuel but either way SaRodorick Thompson is a noteworthy start against a miserable Kansas defensive unit. Thompson has emerged as Matt Wells’ next Darwin Thompson and looks like no other back will replace him in the pecking order. His streak of 20+ point games is sure to continue against Kansas this weekend.

WR, Brandon Aiyuk, Arizona State

Draft Kings Price: $5,700

FanDuel Price: $8,900

Jayden Daniels is a play I like this week against a mediocre UCLA defense and his favorite receiver Brandon Aiyuk is ridiculously inexpensive on Draft Kings. He comes in at $500 under average player price in a matchup where he is almost assured to dominate. Pick uo Daniels and Aiyuk and get more bang for your buck.

WR, Kyle Phillips, UCLA

Draft Kings Price: $5,700

FanDuel Price: $8,300

The Bruins have needed someone to step up in the receiving game all season long with Theo Howard pursuing his options in the transfer portal. Kyle Phillips has steadily worked his way up the order and caught ten balls for 100 yards and two scores last weekend against Stanford. Although Arizona State’s defense is much better than Stanfords, I still expect plenty of targets for Phillips with DTR back in the fold.
