College Fantasy Football Cheat Sheet: Week 10

The College Fantasy Football season is coming down to the wire with the playoffs starting in weeks 11 or 12. The vast majority of my rosters are in good shape with clear starters and bench players for the postseason push to acquire the much-coveted championship trophy.

At this time of the season, I tweak my rosters through the waiver wire to keep viable starters off my opponents teams and provide security in case of a key injury. Do not go crazy on roster management and have confidence in your analytical skills up to now.

I have identified six players, who are possibly available in your season-long CFF leagues (less than 50% rostership), to consider in lineups. Matt Hicks and I breakdown the upcoming College Fantasy Football slate on the CFF Week 10 show presented by the Rookie Big Board, and CFF fanatics in the Twitterverse provide insight and analysis for potential starters.

Enjoy my fellow CFF diehards!

There’s no such thing as too much football! 2022 is the perfect time to add the college game to your fantasy football repertoire. Whether you want to create your own league or join an existing league, the Fantrax College Football Commissioner is the place to go!

Scholar’s CFF Serendipitous Starters: Week 10

QB Stetson Bennett, Georgia vs. Tennessee

O/U 66, Georgia -8.0

Opponent Defense: 300.8 PYPG and 10 P-TDs

@Fantrax Ownership: 51%

In the biggest game of the weekend, is there anything better than starting a player in your CFF lineup? I cannot wait to sit in my recliner with a local-brewed IPA and watch the Volunteers and Bulldogs battle for SEC East supremacy, and possibly, an invite to the CFP postseason. On my CFF rosters, I have many Tennessee players but few Georgia playmakers.

Other than TE Brock Bowers, the only other starter with CFF upside on the Bulldogs is QB Stetson Bennett, who I have confidence will produce fantasy points. For the season, the Georgia’ signal caller averages 23.7 FPPG, passing for over 2,300 yards and 14 total touchdowns—nine passing and five rushing. If a CFF diehard seeks a starter, Bennet provides a high floor with 30-point potential in lineups.

QB Sean Clifford, Penn State at Indiana

O/U 50.5, Penn State -14.0

Opponent Defense: 259.5 PYPG and 19 P-TDs

@Fantrax Ownership: 30%

Back in August, I did not expect to list Sean Clifford among CFF sleepers at any point in the season, expecting Drew Allar to be named the Penn State starter around the midpoint of the crusade. However, the Nittany Lions are 6-2 and ranked among the Top 15 teams in the nation. With a bowl bid on the line, the upperclassman clearly gives Penn State the best chance at winning the team’s final four games.

Clifford has been playing well and producing fantasy points: The senior has surpassed the 30-point barrier in three of the past five games. Indiana has only three victories and does not have the defense to slow the Penn State’ offense. Clifford is an overlooked option in the free-agent pool against the Hoosiers.

RB Calvin Tyler, Jr., Utah State vs. New Mexico

O/U 43.5, Utah State -16.5

Opponent Defense: 136.5 RYPG and 12 R-TDs

@Fantrax Ownership: 21%

In Week 0, the Aggies’ runner first appeared on my radar to kick off the season versus UConn. Calvin Turner rambled for 161 yards on 33 carries in the Utah State victory. Sadly in the next three games, Tyler did not reach double-digit fantasy points in any outing and fell off the CFF radar.

Since the BYU game on September 29, the Aggies ground game and Tyler have gotten back on track. The senior tailback has exceeded 100 yards three times in four games and averaged 16 FPPG. Utah State is a huge favorite at home, and Tyler easily earns another 20 carries against the Lobos.

RB Trevor Etienne, Florida at Texas A&M

O/U 55.5, Florida +3.5

Opponent Defense: 205.6 RYPG and 7 R-TDs

@Fantrax Ownership: 16%

A true freshman, Trevor Etienne has suited up for every game this session for the Gators. At 5’9” and 217-pounds, the younger brother of Jaguars’ star Travis was a composite four-star recruit and chose Florida over Alabama, Clemson and LSU.

Last week against Georgia, Etienne, Montrell Johnson, and Anthony Richardson all carried the football 11 times with Etienne gaining the most yards (52) and scoring once. Coach Bill Napier’s scheme employs multiple call carriers each week, which limits Etienne’s fantasy ceiling. Nevertheless, if a CFF manager needs a Flex option, Etienne is a sneaky pickup this week.

WR Corey Gammage, Marshall at Old Dominion

O/U 46.5, Marshall -3.0

Opponent Defense: 257.1 PYPG and 12 P-TDs

@Fantrax Ownership: 13%

Last year, two statistics limited Corey Gammage’s upside as a CFF starter. He only scored twice and produced only 11.1 YPC on 78 receptions. In 2022, the Marshall wideout has improved both numbers: He has scored four touchdowns in eight games and increased his YPC to 15.2. He has scored 114.8 points, averaging 14.4 FPPG.

In the last two games, Gammage, 6’4” and 220-pounds, has become an even more integral component of the aerial assault. He has been targeted 18 times with 13 catches for 294 yards and a touchdown. I expect continued usage and fantasy production this week against Old Dominion.

WR Elijhah Badger, Arizona State vs. UCLA

O/U 66, Arizona +11

Opponent Defense: 235.4 PYPG and 14 P-TDs

@Fantrax Ownership: 18%

Numbers do not always show a true narrative of a player, nevertheless, stats do tell a fantasy-worthy tale to illuminate possible starters on the waiver wire. There is no controversy on the massive production Elijhah Badger has provided over the past three games, scoring 70.7 fantasy points. With 29 targets, the Sun Devils’ playmaker has logged 21 catches for 308 yards and four scores.

For the season, he has produced over 20 fantasy points four times in eight games and averaged over 16 FPPG. As a big home underdog, Arizona State should be throwing the ball often in the second half, and Badger likely exceeds 10 targets in this game.

Who Ya Got at Quarterback?

  • Stetson Bennett, Georgia: 24%
  • Sean Clifford, Penn State: 6%
  • Riley Leonard, Duke: 39%
  • Michael Pratt, Tulane: 31%

“Number #19! Yes…You read that right: Michael Pratt and the Green Wave. Pratt has 830 total yards and nine total scores in his last three games and gets to face a putrid Tulsa defense. Pratt for 285-plus yards and three touchdowns.” @NinoBrown_T2T

“Stetson Bennett for me. Feels like one of those games where he tosses five touchdowns.” @aceholesrule

Who Ya Got at Running Back?

  • Damien Martinez, Oregon State: 42%
  • Mar’Keise “Bucky” Irving, Oregon: 31%
  • Stacy Sneed, Houston: 13%
  • Brian Battie, South Florida: 14%

“Brian Battie fresh off averaging 8.8 ypc. vs. Houston and two touchdowns gets a weak Temple rush defense. Expect another 100-plus yards and touchdown for Battie, who has 599 yards and six scores on the year!” @NinoBrown_T2T

“Bucky Irving will hit paydirt…maybe twice.” @aceholesrule

Who Ya Got at Wide Receiver?

  • Keon Coleman, Michigan State: 14%
  • Elijah Spencer, Charlotte: 26%
  • Nikko Remigio, Fresno State: 20%
  • Elijhah Badger, Arizona State: 40%

“On the P2P show, Christian Williams dropped his name Friday, and Elijah Spencer delivered with three out of his five catches for touchdowns. The sophomore receiver is averaging 18.7 YPC. and gets Western Kentucky, which should be a shootout. Give me Spencer for another multi-touchdown game!” @NinoBrown_T2T

“Nikko Remigio for me. The return of Jake Haener turned up the fire on this exciting player.” @aceholesrule
