3 NBA Player Prop Bets for 1/28/23

After going one for three last night, it’s time we get back in the winner’s circle. We were only a Ja Morant bucket away from going two for three, so let’s not go and change our process. With prop bets, we don’t need to wait for season-long storylines to play out. Every day is a new day. Fantrax wants to help you win a bit of money, so we will be giving you NBA Player Prop Bets every week. We’ll shy away from keying in on any particular sportsbook, as we know odds vary, and so do props. We’ll focus on our projections, and allow you to find your best odds. Let’s get into today’s prop bets.

NBA Player Prop Bets for January 28

Nikola Jokic to RECORD Triple-Double:

We’re going back to the well on this one. Jokic rested last game in preparation for his matchup with Joel Embiid tonight. To be honest, it seems like Jokic is on his way to a threepeat of MVPs, and judging by the odds I’m looking at, he might be the only person to be considered a favorite to record a triple-double since Russell Westbrook’s monster seasons. It doesn’t matter that the Sixers have the 7th best defense in the league. The offense flows through Jokic. That said, if you can find + odds, make this a standalone bet. If you find – odds, then I’d throw this into a parlay.

Nic Claxton OVER 29 Points + Rebounds + Assists:

With the trade deadline looming, this is a huge game for Nic Claxton. Not because he’s a threat to get traded, but because the Nets are worried they might need a bulkier Center on defense to bang bodies with the bigs of the Eastern Conference in the playoffs. Julius Randle qualifies as one of those bigs of which to be scared. Claxton has been on an absolute tear, though. He’s had 20 and 10 in four of his last five games, and I expect him to do that today as well. If he can put those numbers up against Embiid and Ayton, I believe he has what it takes to do it against Randle. The question is…will he be able to keep Randle in check?

Anthony Davis UNDER 40 Points + Rebounds + Assists:

We have a Lakers vs. Celtics matchup that has certainly lost it’s luster over the past few years, but there is still star power on both sides. The Celtics are clearly the better team, though. They sport a top two offense and a top five defense, and play with a slower than average pace. That likely leads to less possessions for the Lakers and suppressed numbers for the Lakers’ stars. Anthony Davis is the piece I’d like to pick on, as he played in his first game on the 25th, after a long layoff from a foot injury. In that game, he played wonderfully, but was eased in with 26 minutes of game action. I doubt he’ll play more than 29 minutes today, and he put up 34 PRA against the Spurs, a much weaker opponent. Expect AD to be UNDER 40 PRA without a sweat on our end. I’d love to make this bet a leg of a parlay.
