2021 Fantasy Tight End Depth Charts: NFC West

For the next installment of Fantrax’s fantasy tight end depth charts, we’re going to delve into the NFC West. I’ve already ranked the top 30 fantasy tight ends in the NFL, but why not break this down by division? Between the Cardinals, Rams, 49ers, and Seahawks, there are some real studs at this position.

Much like the running back, the tight end position is a scarce fantasy asset. It’s for this reason that my favorite strategy is to draft a running back with my first 4 picks…regardless of league style (redraft, dynasty, etc.). I aim to find value at other positions like WR and QB because if I miss on a bet at those positions, I can always trade one of my RBs for a roster weakness during the season. With my 5th pick, that’s when I take the TE. You have to hit on your TE, or else your streaming one every week. After TE10, your options really fall off. Let’s get into it.

Say what?! Your fantasy football league wasn’t hosted on Fantrax last season? Unthinkable! Check out all the features Fantrax has to offer, and we think you’ll be singing a different tune for next season.

NFC West Tight End Depth Chart

Cardinals:

Maxx Williams

I don’t have a single Cards tight end in my top 30. Kyler Murray is a gunslinger, so it’s surprising to me that all his targets come out of the backfield and to the wide outs. But alas, that’s the case. Maxx spells his name with two “Xs” because that’s how many….I don’t know. I couldn’t think of a funny joke here, but pick Williams up on the waiver wire. He’s not particularly draftable.

Rams:

TE21: Tyler Higbee

Higbee was TE16 with over 500 yards and 5TDs last year. The only reason I have him lower this year is because we have a wave of new TEs that are able to put up similar/better numbers. I’m expecting a similar output this year, but much like Kyler Murray, Stafford is a downfield passer. He’s not looking to hit his TE for more than a checkdown or possession target across the middle. Higbee is solid, but I wouldn’t take a look at him until the late rounds.

49ers:

TE4: George Kittle

His 2019 season is when he was last healthy. He finished the season TE3 with over 1000 receiving yards and 5TDs. It won’t matter whether Trey Lance or Jimmy G is at the helm, he’s the number one target in the receiving game. He can block, he can run, he can play off the line, or in the slot, or on the outside. He can run the entire route tree. If you decided he was the TE1 in this year’s draft, I wouldn’t fight you. He has a case to make.

Seahawks:

TE25: Gerald Everett

Everett had a nice career with the Rams, and now he gets to play with Russell Wilson who will absolutely give him his targets. The reason I don’t have Everett higher is because Will Dissly was going to be the guy before he got hurt. Now he’s healthy, and I imagine he’ll get his fair share of snaps. It’s tough to draft a TE in a timeshare, but Everett is used to it. Take a flier on him in the late rounds.
